Under the Distance Selling Regulations you can return anything bought by online or mail order for any reason within seven days. If they tell you otherwise, they're acting illegally. This doesn't apply to items bought in store, though, for which legally there is no obligation to offer a refund unless they're faulty!

To add to that I went to new look and returned 2 sale items at the weekend that I had ordered online and received about 25 days before hand and they did not query or say anything, they just refunded with no hassle.
