fluffybunny wrote:Do you realize that you can gain points not only via grocery shopping?
I hear what you say, fluffybunny, but even building in all of the clubcard earning wheezes (which you must admit takes a bit of concerted effort on your behalf, and contains a series of "non-recurring" items, like your phone service, insurance etc), the total still only comes to approx half of what's been quoted as supposedly being earned over 3 months.
I am a litte confused as to where the 11000 figure came from in any case. It's a bit difficult with such a long thread, but I can't find any reference to it in Igloo's postings. Was it there originally and subsequently editted out, or did someone dream it up? (Apologies if I have missed it...)I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
my original post was not insulting or a personal attack on anyonei wont however waste my time on insignificant wasters like the last poster in future.
Perhaps we can get back then to the original thread - has Igloo had any response yet from either the Police or Tesco? And in sympathy with her I am doing my bit by buying as much beef as I can get my hands on (45 packs so far). You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
Please get back on original topic and stop the personal comments immediately or this thread will be closed.

Trying to ignore the vitriol creeping into this otherwise interesting thread ...One I have in my wallet at moment
To the customer
..... This voucher may only be redeemed against XXXXX...
To the Retailer
... Accepting it in lieu of payment for any other article constitutes fraud
It would be fraud on Tesco's part if they tried to pass the voucher to the company offering discount claiming that it had been used in part purchase of that product when it wasn't, but that is not igloo's problem.
IMHO, refusing to allow her to leave a closed office without handing over her Clubcard is as close to illegal detention as I can think of. No offence had been committed and igloo keeping the card which Tesco had provided to her makes her withholding it a civil, not criminal matter so no powers of citizens arrest would apply as far as I can see.

Oh God. I feel like I'm upsetting people on here now and people are nit-picking asking about my points!
To answer some questions here goes-
++How many coupons did I use? Last week I was there, I spent £126 and used £30 of coupons bringing the bill down to £96 but about £15 of coupons were for things I had bought so £15 were for things I had not bought which is just over 10%. I would do one main big shop a week and then go again a few days later for a few bits and bobs. Obviously they didnt mind a lot of coupons when you spend a lot. Someone thinks I go every day and only use coupons for my purchases. I dont think so.
++Some have asked where I get the coupons from. I bought on ebay from a woman who sells the info on how to get coupons. I had an email back which was pages long! I've emailed companies asking for coupons. I've received in the post coupons from-mccain, andrex, hovis, dr oetker, bodyform, amoy, financial times just to mention some. mccain? micro-chips for the kids. Andrex? well, we all need loo roll. Hovis? i think everyone buys bread. dr oetker -pizza? financial times? well this is something i wouldnt buy so this is one of the coupons I would have used towards my shopping.
++My points? You can get points not just from groceries. £1000 a week, I wish. If I could afford all that would i be using coupons? My phone,my credit card, my gas, my electric. I've had 2000 points for signing up with Tesco phone. If I phone someone else who also has tesco home phone its free. My mother has it, mother in law, best friend, my husbands best mate...we've all got it. Its saving me a fortune! you can get points for phone calls, gas bills, electric bills, credit card bills, all petrol, recycling old phones and ink cartridges, new tyres. Any bill we get I try to pay for it with my tesco card to try and pump my points up. someone asked if was buying lots of stuff to get points. if items are on offer to get points, am I now doing wrong for buying it? yes, there is beef on offer to get points but I've only got one fridge freezer and it will only hold so much. ive been reading another thread and people are buying stuff just to get points to go on holiday and giving what they buy away to shelters and people in tesco car parks. I'm sorry but I think thats too much.
I've also been asked for an update.
I've phoned the police because i really did feel frightened when this security guard stood up and took a step towards me and asked me for my card. I'm sorry but I was in a tiny room which was about 10 foot by 6 foot and when a man who was sitting down stands up and takes a step towards me, i was scared. my kids were behind me and i just thought if i refuse again what will he do to us? The police told me that the whole coupon thing is a civil matter but the way he acted could be reported.
I've written to Tesco with help (Thank you) and I'm waiting.
I have been reading this thread and I think i have upset a few people , i'm sorry. I just wanted other people who use coupons to know what happened.
Someone also asked if i got this sorted out, would i go back? i dont know....in a way i think i would just because i could! another part of me doesnt know how i would react if i saw them again.
Thanks again0 -
You have nothing to apologise for. I'd certainly pursue reporting the security guard to the police in your situation, but it is entirely your decision. I'm glad you posted. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Fifer!
now that's a user that understands things exactly the way they are,
No misprices for me today but don't forget all that garden furniture going cheap in your rush to the meat and cheese counter. Lots of tables and chairs around at rediculous prices so don't miss out its all disappearing fast folks and will give you something to put on your receipt that your not getting a refund for but still bagging a bargain all the same.
Try to be smart about your purchases and pick up some of your other shopping at the same time, hell shop daily if your there every day, theres always lots of fresh fruit to be picked up reduced at the end of the day, same stuff everybody else has been paying full price for all day, so long as you eat same day or even next day you'll be eating healthier for a fraction of the price, freshly baked bread always reduced, salad's fruit drinks etc any mum's out there with kids could put Jamie Oliver type dishes on the table for next to nothing just by visiting daily and shopping in this way.
I personally would rather Tesco's finest with today's or tomorrow's date on to eat than Kwik Save no frills with next weeks date what about you lot.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Ben, if you're after a misprice for today, check out the Tesco's Healthy Living fresh lemon sole - supposed to be £4.53 per lb (marked on the shelf), but the packs are marked at £4.99 per lb. I just got £14 of fresh lemon sole ( 4 packs) for free thanks to that!
Incidentally, to those wondering about club card points. I had 3636 the other day. I now have 8256 by today. By Tueday, that will top 17000. All that's been done on grocery shopping. How much have I spent? Not 17k, I can tell you! I've got a freezer full of cheap beef, though. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

You mean in the same way that the music on a cd you've bought becomes your property when you buy a cd? The only thing that is 'your property' when you buy a magazine is the stationary it's printed on little else, and certainly not material belonging to a third party who have happened to distribute a coupon within the mag.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
Weyres wrote:They have Igloo's clubcard and therefore her address.
There was a poster on another Tesco coupon thread whose father got a phone call from Tesco one evening - apparently they'd felt he'd used too many coupons and asked him to refrain on pain of banishment. They tracked him down through his Clubcard....
Which would be a cut and dried breach of the Data Protection Act but that's another story.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0
