Apply through Rpoints and get £4: http://www.rpoints.com/finance/

There were a lot of posts in the last Cashback discussion where Morgan Stanley seemed to be problematic. Is that still the case?

Is this still the case? I'm thinking of applying for either the Conran or Morgan Stanley Card.

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but Nationwide are no longer offering their cashback cards to new applicants.

This article in Money Telegraph gives the background.
  • Just to add my thoughts to this thread.

    1) I use AMEX Blue Card (1% cashback) [works really well]

    2) I have a second card (Lloyds create) which is a MasterCard, and gives 0.5% cashback. I use this for purchases which will not accept Amex.

    3) I will probably Get a Morgan Stanley (as this give 2% initially, dropping to 1%) and i think this is a VISA card.

By using this strategy you can ensure that ALL spend on a card at least gets you *something* back. :A
in combination with a Lloyds Current A/C i get 4% during the 56 day interest free period on the cards until I have to pay them.

I'm hoping this makes sense, and seems the most comprehensive Cashback/card strategy. Feel free to comment . :j

If you replace your Lloyds Mastercard with Egg Money Mastercard (1%) your strategy will be even more comprehensive :D

and if you ever take part in arbitrage (matched betting) get a Sky Card and redeem the points at Skybet for an effective cashback rate of 2%. :j
    God save the King!
I'll save Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, J. M. W. Turner and Alan Turing.

I use an Amex Platinum credit card for UK expenses where accepted and a Nationwide Cash Reward card as backup and for everything overseas.

I also have a Sainsbury's Visa card which I only keep for the free CPP cover which was on offer when I opened the account.
  • Am about to get a Morgan Stanley cashback card. If I use it to take advantage of Tesco misprices (i.e. spend, then full refund almost straight after), does this spend count when my cashback bonus is calculated?
Advice please moneysavers. ( I'm a credit card virgin!!!!!)

Although it is quite obvious that you don't have a chance to get cashback on amounts that have been refunded, you can look in T&C:
    View Terms and Conditions
4....less the amount of any refunds...
    5. If you are given a refund for a Purchase after we have given you your Cashback Bonus Award (and we had included that Purchase when working out the value of your Cashback Bonus award), we will take the refund into account when working out the value of your next Cashback Bonus award.

Hi, I think Morgan Stanley is a MasterCard actually.

Quite true, but it means you have an extra headache of checking three card statements every month. I got a little fed up of this after a while and cancelled my Morgan Stanley card. I'd only spent £400 on it in the few months I had it. Now I'm thinking of re-openning it as I could potentially get around £20 a year in cashback on non-Amex spend. Plus my Nationwide card is not that good for benefits ;)
