  • You can make calls from UK to other countries & you can receive calls from other countries to the UK. But you cannot take your Tesco Value Sim abroad and make/receive calls. Hope that's clear.

yes it should do as it is "piggy backed" on to o2,(fresh,virgin,t-mobile & easy mobile sims all work in the same way, formerly the old one-one network).

To be pedantic... the network that Virgin, Fresh & easyMobile use is the T-mobile network. It's owned by T-mobile and Virgin et al pay T-mobile to use it.

Similarly Tesco mobile use the o2 network.

So as my daughter has a locked to O2 phone are we sure that the Tesco value sim with work in it? Has anyone here actually tried a Tesco sim in an O2 phone?

I was about to go spend £10/month on the O2 300freetext tarrif but this might suit better if it will work ok.

Thanks in advance for any confirmation ;)

Would calls from an O2 contract sim to this Tesco sim be classed as 'same network' for inclusive minutes purposes?

O2 x-net inclusive minutes allow you to call any UK mobile operator. If you have O2 own network inclusive minutes you would be charged to phone Tesco Mobile as it is a virtual network in its own right, even though it piggy backs on to O2.

I am currently on O2 Leisure Time Plus and all my calls to Tesco Mobile numbers come out of my free minutes (classed as same net). I don't know if this is the same for all the O2 tariffs though. However, I have a feeling that calling from a Tesco mobile to an O2 number might be classed as cross net call by Tesco Mobile...

T-mobile work in a similar fashion whereby if you call a Virgin mobile number from a T-mobile sim then it is classed as same network call, but if you ring from Virgin to T-mobile then it is classed as cross network.

I have tried my aunt's locked O2 PAYG phone with a Tesco mobile sim, although not their value sim. It worked perfectly.

Its a Sagem MYX7 one of the wollies cheapies ;) I ordered a sim anyway, its hardly going to be earth shattering if it doesnt work in her O2 phone ;) I will just use up the airtime in another unlocked phone I have.
Must remember to drop back here and report if it does or not though.

    Cheers.
