Hi inkie,
We have a long thread on Wash balls that should help you;
Wash balls - Laundry balls - Eco balls
I'll merge your thread with that one later.

Can anyone advise if the dryer balls can be used in a washer/dryer machine, without damaging the balls?......It defeats the purpose of the machine if I have to do separate cycles!0

I have to share this with you. I use soda mixed in with ecover for most of my washing but I have to use washing tablets for whites at 60 because ecover doesn`t get them clean enough. I bought these http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!20907
two days ago and have done 3 washes, 2 at 40 with ecover and soda and 1 white wash at 60 with ecover and soda and it is SO clean. This is one to explore ie less ecover, lower temp etc. The balls are fantastic and work really well. They will obviously pay their way over time if I can reduce the washing temperature and I`ll be trying on my next washes
also the rinsing was much better as noticed on the flannels and the towelling is fluffy in spite of being dried on an airer indoors0 -
Kittie, thank you for that info. I was looking at them in Lakeland the other day but wasn't convinced. I'll be placing an orderf with Lakeland in a couple of weeks so I'll add a set to the order.
Thanks again :-)0 -
Thank you for that info; we have a Lakeland in town and I was looking at these for ages and wondering if they could really make a difference or if they would damage clothes. Good to hear from someone who has used them!0

Hi kittie
I've added your thread to an existing one about these wash balls. I'm a bit confused. I think there are two completely different sorts of 'washballs' which have now got merged as one thread. I think Kittie is talking about things you add to the wash with soap of some sort which whump your washing cleaner by just pummelling it more, whereas the earlier thread was about the things (which most people don't seem to think work) which you put in the wash instead of any soap at all.
Or am I completely wrong ?0 -

You appear to be right. I bought some Ecoballs a couple of years ago, but only use them for things like towels - stuff that doesn't have stains on. These balls from Lakeland seem to "whump" you washing like you say. However, if they are that good, why are so many sets for sale on Ebay as someone earlier mentioned. Can't be that good can they? . . .0 -
There are balls and there are balls
eco balls with beads in them.
he wash balls from lakeland do work and like morganlefay says, they pummel the washing so the detergent that you do use is more effective.0
