Honeymoon In orlando florida

Hi Everyone

So I am planning to book a 14 day trip to florida and I have a budget of £2000 max on flights and hotel. I am looking for hotels 3 star and above. This is for august and I want to know about if anyone has any reviews on the hotels and which ones are the best. I want to be close to disney and not too far away from it.

I will be updating this thread quite often with my feedback.

So please do included all advice and help

thank you

So Where should I begin ... I found flights and hotel for £1890 but the hotel had bad reviews , it was the holiday Inn, it seemed ok but after reading reviews I didnt know what to belive?

There are thousands of hotels in Orlando - surely you can find a good selection that fall within your budget?

Where did you read the bad reviews? I always read quite a few about the accomodation that I am interested in as it soon becomes apparent that peoples' expectations vary wildy and what one will moan dreadfully about, others will find perfectly acceptable for the price.

It was many years ago (long before you could read internet reviews) but one time we stayed at a place with a 2* rating at a ridiculously low price and we thought it was a super little place. I do understand though that you want something as nice as possible for your honeymoon.

Hello, we had our honeymoon in Florida ( partly Orlando and partly in Clearwater)

    In Orlando, we stayed here:

It was fab because it was on I - drive but also set in loads of gardens, so nice and peaceful. Bear in mind when we went , it wasn't schoolholidays, so don't kno what it will be like in August, but the pool bar was great for chilling out with cocktails etc after a long day.

Do bear in mind you probably won't be in the hotel that much.

    In general, for reviews, try

When you are there, you can often see rooms being offered at $40 - $45 a night.....and for that you will get a room with two double beds in it.....and what else do you need in Florida? Hotels in Florida dont usually offer what you might expect from a hotel in Barbados, for instance.

    I've been Money Tipped!
You are often much better booking flights and hotel separately, get a feel for flights with places such as kayak.co.uk and there are loads of hotels, some reasonable ones to start you are are Sheraton studio city in the centre of International Drive (I think it may have been renamed 4 points by Sheraton), they will often have special offers, if you want to stay at Disney then Pop Century, or the all starts resorts can be good value and are clean.

There are hotels that are really top end, and others which are really basic, try coming over to www.thedibb.co.uk/forums there is a lot of help there all about Florida and Disney.
  • Thanks amys. great help

    anymore advice is welcome

If you are not having a hire car, quite a few hotels offer a courtesy bus to and from Disney.

yes it was clean, decent size rooms, can't tbh rememeber exact detials of the rooms, think there were 2 dbl beds, table, chairs etc. The grounds of the hotel are lovely , we saw a couple of weddings at the hotel , so it's that sort of place where you would like to have ur wedding pics etc.
It's on international drive so, abt 20 mins drive to disney maybe.. if you don't drive there are probably shuttles etc
    other attractions close by?

seaworld a few mins by car, can't rememebr re universal - but probaby about 15 - 20 mins i expect

are there near bars dining ?

theres loads of restaurants on I - drive, and a few within walking distance, hotel restaurant was really good too i rememeber

sorry don't know, we've always had a car in orlando , but i think there is something called the I - trolley for I - drive, and shuttles, etc to the main attractions

I am very greatful for the help you guys are giving me:T

    Hi,

It depends on when you are going, sometimes the flights are cheaper than others, the cheapest/best time to go is just after Xmas, although slightly colder (t-shirts during the day, jackets in the evening but not very hot, just right for me tbh) most of the poeple have gone back to work or are waiting for half term in the UK!! No queing, hurrah!!

Anyhow, we stayed in the Radisson Celebration. Nice and clean, good service, nice sized rooms, good restaurant, clean rooms, good facilities. http://www.radisson.com/kissimmeefl

It is on the 192 and the bus stop is literally outside the hotel and this bus goes direct into the Disney Travel Centre where you get the monorail to the MK and also the buses to all of the other resorts/theme parks. We paid $12 for a weely ticket to get us around and you can use all of the Lynx buses for this price. Taxis are not too badly priced and we actually worked out we paid the same in taxis/bus fare as we would for a hire car so it worked out OK for us.

I would suggest that you book it direct rather through an agent and book the hotel with Expedia, you might also find that you can stay in a disney Resort for one week and then go up Internatioal Drive for the 2nd week. Ifstaying in disney you can get the 'Magical Express' and get taken to the resort from the airport for free too.

I am sure that people will advise which are the best but you can check out the resorts on the Disney.com website and see if you can get better prices on Expedia (I found better prices for Animal Kingdom on Expedia than direct with Disney). Carribean Beach, Port orleans Resort, Coronado Springs are all 3 star or above and you'll get a week there for £650 or thereabouts.

Looking for Feb, flights would be £350 each, Disney Accomodation for one week (do Disney this week) £650 and the the rest for a week on International Drive so you can do the likes of Seaworld, shopping, Universal/IofA and so on - easily for £500. Looking at prices, you could do Portofino Bay luxury spa resort for a touch of luxury and stay 'on site' at Universal for £800 and get free fast passes. Likewise you can stay at Loews Royal Pacific for £650 and that is in Universal too. If you shop around you can get some great prices for International Drive and many include transport and freeshuttle buses, but book it yourself otherwise you'll pay more for agents fees and that is a bit of a waste of money. Even getting a cab from the airport would save you a fortune (speak to the hotel though as many run shuttles and you may be able to nbook onto this).

I personally find that planning is the key and it sounds a bit pedantic but plan each day to make the most of it and get to see what you can. Take a look on disboard.com and make sure that the rides you want to do are not going to be shut for refurb as you'll be disappointed if this is the case.

    Hth.

Hi, we went to florida for our honeymoon :) We stayed at a disney hotel - The Caribbean Beach resort. The entire holiday cost us £2400, this included BA flights, hotel for 14 nights, 2 week passes to disney, universal, sea world and a dolphin swim at discovery cove and the transfer bus from the airport to the hotel. (this was in 2006 and I don't think I shopped around very much)

The hotel isn't anything special, just a room with beds and a bathroom really. We didn't have a hire car so it was convenient having the free buses to the disney parks, but getting to seaworld/universal meant getting a taxi. The other issue was food - it's all burgers, chips, chicken goujons, more burgers, so I think if I went again I would have a car so we could drive to restaurants.

I've also previously stayed in a villa with my parents. These can be extremely good value, so might be worth looking into if one of you can drive over there.
