Why do we need these warranties anyway, the cost is about £60 a year, and if my box breaks I'll buy one off Ebay for about £45 brand new!!!
Thanks for that very useful information, especially about being able to buy one on ebay.
It will be interesting to see if I do get sent the information regarding the insurance or they were just trying to get my bank details over the phone??? Thank goodness for MSE - so great to be able to get answers.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Can anyone confirm the situation if you already have a dish from a previous owner of the house?0

Depends - most engineers will take it off and fit a new one, especially if you are having Sky+, as it's a new 4-line LNB.
Bear in mind Sky fitter won't know how old it is, and if it doesn't work he'd only have to fit a new one anyway.
The most they will do is use the same screw holes in your wall, but even then with mine the bracket was different so new holes were drilled, my house now looks like Swiss cheese.I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!

For anyone else considering this, just thought I'd give an update.
I ordered the Sky service on 4th March. Lovely engineer came out last Sat and fitted the dish etc (and even did a bit of 'extra' work for a very reasonable charge, meaning we now have Sky in two rooms off the one box!).
Broadband switchover happened yesterday. Very smooth, only offline for about an hour at most. One point to bear in mind - if you have your own email address, even set up correctly, it will be sent out as coming from your sky.com address without you knowing! I had to contact my domain name provider to get different server details to get round this problem. (They did this within 30 seconds for me!) A bit sneaky of Sky though, and a point to bear in mind if you run your own business or work from home.
Other than that, communication from Sky has been excellent, and all instructions are very clear. My Quidco is tracking at £130, rather than £150, but have put in an enquiry for this.
Generally I have been quite impressed - now I just have to find out how to get my kids away from the Disney channel..."A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it." :wall:

Hi Guys
I know im late on this now(due to waiting approval from Landlord) but i have tried on various cashback sites and on each of them the link becomes timed out when i reach the installation date stage..Ive tried as has been suggested on new browsers and on different PC but none works..So i would have to say that it looks like SKY have definatly pulled this offer now0 -
Hi
I have just done the sky thing through quidco.
As I confirmed my direct debit details my firefox crashed - i restored it, and continued with the order (only a couple more details to complete)
I then went back to quidco to see if it has tracked - no sign yet, but not too worried yet as only just done it.
However - there is now no sign of sky on quidco's website - just 20 minutes after i clicked through it to order
Not sure what is happening, but i sincerely hope the tracking went through ok, cos otherwise not sure how i could raise a ticket to ask for cashback
Anyone shed any light on what may have happened?
Thanks

As your browser crashed it might be better to cancel the order and start again. Something similar happened to me once when buying car insurance through quidco and it never tracked and the enquiry amounted to nothing as well.0 -
no longer on quidco?
think it's been removed.0 -
Cant find it on Quidco, Topcashback, or RPoints today.
Has it finished in place of their new Refer a friend: Sky+ box deal?
I hope not!0 -
Just a little point to note, we entered our MAC code when ordering through topcashback online. However, day 12 and no internet equipent later, my partner called to see why our sky.com email wasnt letting us on. Turns out they didn't get the MAC code from the order, and said it happened quite alot. So, if you are using a MAC code when ordering sky broadband I would make a note of it somewhere as you may have to give it out again over the phone.0
