Managed to get some crisps this week too, says new improved and they were a lot better, better than Asda, but not as good as Tesco everyday value ones :) as those still aren't back in stock though Basics will do nicely.

Bought the basic hand wash - the smell is awful :(

Have been shopping in SB last few weeks and def spending less there than Tesco/Asda. Their basic range definitely much superior to the other two. Apart from the handwash.

Can vouch for the grated cheddar, grated mozarella, tomato sauce, lasagne sheets, pitta, eggs, all the biscuits - bourbons, nice etc, tin spaghetti, garlic baguettes.

My mum makes her own yoghurts and uses the Basics powdered milk. Its £1.01 for a bag - over a third cheaper than Marvel.

I don't think these are in the Basics range any more but noticed that Sainsburys own bags of frozen carrots are £1 for 1kg...Icelands are £1 for 900g. Not often Icelands frozen veg is less value than Sainsburys.

i make Rocky Road with basics chocolate (2 x dark and 1/2 milk) and everyone so far comments on how tasty it is.

Also, basics round cotton wool pads (gone up from 45p to 49p) - do the job perfectly.

Another fan of Basics chocolate here, I buy the white one to break into choc chips for baking, but it often ends up being eaten as is.

Other Basics items I've tried & liked are:

    Bananas
    - no different to standard ones!
    Potatoes - ditto
Soft cheese - identical to Philly
Hot chocolate powder - very good for the price, similar to Aero hot choc
Macaroni cheese (from the chiller cabinet) - really good for 76p!
Cashew nuts - excellent value, tend to be halves rather than whole nuts but doesn't bother me
Pot Noodles - cheap as chips, prefer them to the real thing

Basic Bananas are generally expensive. The other day, a customer asked me how much would these bananas cost him if he bought the same weight loose. These bananas cost 30p more for them in the Basics bag than loose.

Indeed, The loose bananas are at current prices , better value. Also better than my local street market "pound a bowl" traders.
