Worried First Time Buyer - In Too Deep?

i know what you mean, we have been very lucky to get what we have. I had to move away from my family as i couldnt have bought a shed where i'm from. So now i have a 3 bed end terrace house (only 3 houses), garage and 3 bathrooms, and although i made lots of sacrifices i love it. I never thought i would like this area and we have had trouble since moving away but for being so young i never thought i would have been as lucky as i am. We shall lucky i am when it comes to sell though lol!!
Wow your house sounds like something special, we are terraced too, got a good deal by the skin of our teeth...the 4th bedroom is a extension off the back which we use as a playroom right now (Last owners were disabled and needed a room and bathroom downstairs ) good for the kiddies!..I'd love a garage but priced them up and have to put that on the back burner the now!!;)You may walk and you may run

I don't think anyone is jealous of your situation - it's very difficult to be jealous of someone you don't even know, after all.
I seriously hope you are being sarcastic. How anyone could seriously think that 4 bed, 2 bath is "bottom of the propert market" is beyond me. Have you ever lived in a one-bedroom flat in a dodgy area with barely enough room to swing a cat? That's bottom of the property ladder.
It honestly doesn't appear as though you are reading anything that anyone else is saying on this thread, because you refuse to consider the possibility that house prices might just be a teeny bit further out of reach of the average FTB these days than they were back when you bought your first house.
You're really not coming across very well here (patronising, even). It's a shame, because if you presented your opinion better and backed it up with qualifying statements, I think people might be more inclined to listen to you. Just a thought.
this was bounced off from a comment that got left!!!!
and my house ie price, style etc is JUST ABOUT bottom of the market! I'm living in one of the cheapest type....there is one bed flats going for more than my house is at todays prices......and the bigger properties although going up slightly not as fast as the flats etc.

So, by luck, you live in the cheapest and nastiest house in the whole area... after 12 years and two salaries.
Go you.0 -

I sold my flat (completed in September) for £125,000 (I marketed it at £129,500). The newbuild flats of similar size (they came with a parking space, but mine came with a garden, so very comparable) were on the market at the time for £155,000 and sold quickly (don't know how much for)...
The empty ones are now on the market for £122,000 with the loft flat on for £114,995. There are 5 still available.
All the flats are 1-bedroom, but mine was a solid Victorian conversion with good sound-proofing (I can't vouch for the new ones). Area is very family-friendly, with a top Grammar school, leisure centre and Waitrose within 200 yards, but only 10 mins walk to the City Centre.
Bear in mind that, in this particular circumstance, the whole City has been overpriced for a long time, with a lot of celebrity / 2nd home / retirees pushing up the market values beyond affordability. Wages in the area are disproportionately low, and so has been dominated by Buy To Let.
was it Salisbury?0 -

Your post no. 125 quoted by MSMonkey on post no. 130 - but you'd know that if you checked your facts0 -

Just sounds like where I grew up, and if it is then I would have gone to the grammar school in question and worked at Waitrose on a Saturday. And it is expensive and in Wiltshire and there's a leisure centre and lots of Victorian houses!0
