six pages of people repeatedly telling you you're in the wrong..... and i'm the one without a clue?

    ;)

EDIT - this post just made it go onto seven!!!

Six pages of (mostly) "people" repeating the same thing over and over again, which I explicitly stated not to in the first place!

Yes, really, you don't have a clue!

Despite all the posts saying chaotic is in the wrong, I don't see what is so hard for everyone to understand.

If you're selling 10 items, and seven of them go to one buyer then why insist on the original postage terms (albeit with a paltry discount that doesn't really make sense (it surely doesn't save the seller the same amount per item to send all in one package)) when that leaves only two options, 1, your dodgy and looking to send it all in one package for £10 and make a nice profit on the postage, or 2. you're going to send every item seperately, take a loss on the postage (after your discount) and end up costing the buyer £50 that they need not have paid had you just sent as one package. Of course there's the third option that is available to the seller, bung them all in as one package and charge the buyer what it costs to send (plus packaging etc.) but apparently the seller shouldn't do this because despite it being the right thing to do, the buyer didn't send a message about it to the seller beforehand and should be punished accordingly.

ok if like chaotic i was asked to pay £60 in p&p I would be a bit pi55ed as well.
fair enough he should have asked before bidding but he didn't, we've all done it.

and that is why when I buy off ebay I look at the total price item + p&p, if I'm happy with this then I buy.

So what I would like to ask the op is how much did you buy the items for and how to they compare to market value and once you add the p&p price would you still be happy to pay this if for example you saw this in the shop.

    so item price + p&p / 7 = £xx for one item

are you happy with the £xx if so pay it!

And would you also be charging £60 postage in the first place? (against eBay rules RE excessive postage costs)

What would filing an NPB report 7 times accomplish, besides maliciousness, and getting my account unfairly NARU'd?

No i wouldn't charge £60 postage but i certainly wouldn't charge you £10 for delivering them all either.

I've recently had someone like you who purchased an item from my work ebay account and paid standard shipping rate for mainland UK and then expected me to post it to australia for the same charge. His reply was along the lines of either send it for that price or stick it where the sun don't shine.

Why file 7 NPB's? well you've purchased 7 items, not paid for any of them so obviosuly i'd file 7 NPB reports. If you are so worried about your ebay account pay up, admit you dropped a boo-boo (albeit an expensive one) have the items delivered and then get over it.

I have asked the seller to "mutually cancel" the purchases, if he does this then the only fees lost out on are the listing fees of approx £0.15 x 7 (all auctions started at 99p) - he gets the FVF's back.

The seller knows he is in the wrong, hence his insistance that he does not have to "explain" his postage costs, and that I pay for the items with his ridiculous fee.

however the seller has discounted per item.
its been a while but IIRC its now £7.50 per item?
is £7.50 per item "against ebays rules" by your words? i doubt that.
your problem is the assumption the seller should clupmp them all together.
all this came about by not emailing in advance

As stated previously, these were FAULTY i.e. non working Arcade PCBs.

With the extortionate postage the seller wanted to charge factored in, a majority of the PCBs could have likely been bought PERFECTLY WORKING !

I was doing the seller a favour taking 7 faulty PCBs off their hands in the one transaction, in fact they mentioned in one auction that they had 20 more of the same PCB, and I would have taken those too, but how much would postage have been then? Hmm lets see, 27 boards they would likely have wanted £205 postage ?? :rotfl:

Your not going to buy something to fettle it, unless it's particularly cheap!

The seller has this morning agreed to mutually cancel all of the purchases (no email from them - just the 7 emails from eBay with the mutual cancellation stuff in them..)

So he knows he is in the wrong. He has relisted the items and mentions his £2.50 discount per additional board purchased. It will be interesting to see if they go for less this time round (I believe that they will!)

I have learned my lesson, in that there is always one dodgy seller out there, so in future yes I will be asking before purchasing!

The trouble is, sometimes they don't bloomin' reply to begin with! I asked a few questions yesterday about an expensive item from the USA, then realised that the auction stated they didn't answer questions at the weekend.. why have an expensive item ending then.. when people will obviously ask questions about it.

Anyway I digress.. problem solved.. thanks to those who supported me, and those who didn't.. well.. I just hope I don't accidentally buy something off you, maybe because I didn't ask something beforehand you'll want a pound of flesh instead of £60. :money:

Have you offered to pay his costs?

I think, under the circumstances, that would be a fair gesture from you.

ha I have been on holiday and returned and this is still alive and well!
Perhaps, OP, he was fed up with your whinging and so that was why he gave up dealing with you, rather than being "in the wrong"
I am glad your issue is resolved.

Well done, Chaotic-j. Despite the wall of insults and patronising comments, you stuck to your position and got a result.

I have been disappointed by the tone of some of the comments that you received and I have been appalled by the lack of support for your problem. Nevertheless, and despite that barrage of bad manners, you have been big enough to come back and give us an update. Thanks. Good on yer!
