    Afternoon everyone.

Trying to do some school stuff. Ds currently asleep on DH's knee. He slept 7 - 7:30am, was sick another twice this morning and was very upset with himself, so we took him to the NHS clinic who said viral gastroenteritis, take paracetomol and dioralyte. We mainly went up because he was crying for water, saying he is thirsty, then would gulp it really quickly and then throw it up. How do you explain to a toddler to sip. Anyhow, current plan is to let him sleep it off, keep offering him water when he is awake, and take it from there. Don't know what i will do about work, will see how he is tomorrow i suppose, and then decide. Working now as if i am going.

House still looks a heap, and ILs are visiting next weekend, but we are kind of tied as i know i need to do lots of school work before the mat leave, and my commitment to do it doesn't disappear if i don't go back. So will work my socks off while i can today, and let DH look after DS and do what he can.

I know some of your kids collect the high School musical 2 stickers - i have 6 on my desk that were free with the newspaper that we don't want - does anyone want me to post them to you rather than chuck them out?

Anyway, back to the work so i can also manage to wash my hair and do some ironing today.

    Michelle, x

tiamai, know exactly what you mean, we spent on cards because we had nothing left, my debts were huge by the time I was 19 (over £20k) thanks to an ex in part, then things just got worse, minimum payments were at well over £1000 a month at one point, my hording of food etc is because of the previous being too skint to buy it aswell, or so my sons psychiatrist tells me, sort of makes sense, same with the boys clothes which the reality hit when we moved storing the boys clothes in their own rooms I seen just how many they had, for goodness sake my boys have 3 drawers of short sleeved tshirts each then a wardrobe full each of long sleeved/sweaters etc because I could buy them I did. When my OS ways slipped was when we had more money to spend, I ended up blowing over £800 on groceries/pet stuff/cleaning stuff because I could, I even bought ready made mashed potato and paid someone to clean. Now I have managed to put a stopper on it, I do occasionally have a 'splurge' moment when I come home thinking 'oh heck what have I spent' but none of it's on a credit card/loan/store card :D

Michelle, sorry to hear little ones still unwell. Have you got any straws? You could let him use one if he can, nipping it when you want him to stop so he just gets a little at a time, or make him drink it off a spoon, oh can you tell I've been there several times.....my son become scared of drinking which was a nightmare. Fingers firmly crossed that you and your partner don't get it, highly contagious so it is likely, but fingers crossed all the same. Personally I'd cancel the inlaws coming just incase. Oh edited to add another trick with tummy bugs suggested to me by DPs step Mam (ex kids ward nurse) was clear jelly off a spoon, worked a treat when DS1 refused to drink.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Afternoon all

And welcome the latest newbies - especially Bellie. Well, I've spent most of today putting postcard after postcard up on ebay. I eed to stop now and do some Work work.

Not looking forward to tonight - the radio presenters are really bigging up the doom and gloom about the forecast gales for the south coast tonight. I wish they wouldn't do it! But, it's sunny at the moment and the washing is drying well. Right, a cup of tea and some toast then Work work.

Had a great day yesterday. BF won £110 backing Scotland at the rugby (he's English!!) And I only had soda and lime in the pub. All the old men were laughing at me as I was screaming at Scotland not to score anymore (bet was Sco win between 6 and 10 points) Hurrah!!!

Havent actually moved from couch today. Need to go and get my breakfast soon. We're going to see Dara O'Brien tonight, so a wee bit football this afty and move vegging ;)
all this talk of rugby makes me pine for Edinburgh! The last place I lived before I left was off Gorgie Road, Westfield Road it was, right near the B&Q at the bottom of the Western Approach Road, so you could see (and hear) Murayfield from my flat window. Cool when it was the likes of REM doing a gig and of course fab atmosphere on international days.

Have managed to avoid evil foodstuffs today so far. Not going to the gym though as DH is working all day  So I am in charge of the brood. Not so bad though, I have just been the patient in a game of doctors which involves lying down wrapped in a blanket having bits of plastic prodded at me - quite relaxing actually! Although I must say Dr Fifi (of the flowertots) was very slow arriving :rotfl:

AnW's Mum wow you caught up well! Yes we got the passports sorted, well they got sent, the last thing the misery guts in the PO said was about a mistake I had corrected, that they might reject it at the passport place but did I want them to send it anyway ? Well I just wanted the things GONE. I dont care if they come back rejected I just wanted them out of my face LOL.
And yes, I know not to rush the weight loss etc etc but ahem surely I shouldn't be putting it ON :rotfl:
    Sending you love and hugs.

I posted my first gumtree post today, trying to sell my side by side double buggy. Wonder if it will go ?? Anyone got any good experiences of gumtree to give me hope ? I've never really used it before, and I just couldn't be doing with ebay.

Should be going out in the garden to try and stash away anything that might take off in the storms forecast for tonight but its hard to prioritise it, its so nice at the minute, and everyone is hapopy I dont want to rock the boat by opening up the garden to them just now.

Oh spoke too soon. LO just woke up aarrghh I never get anything done!!!

I always use https://www.adtrader.co.uk for free ads like that JillD I've never used gumtree myself.

Well DP came home, noone else turned up to help. He's been helping try to seal the conservatory (3 loose panels, clips keep coming out, when I asked him to check one was 9 inches out of where it should be and they rattle in the wind) removed the trampoline net on our trampoline so they don't rip etc.

lil_me - yes I too know what you mean about saving/spending etc. About 18 months ago DH was bringing home next to nothing and we managed, just. Ten he brought home more and we saved a fair amount to fund my maternity leave. Now that I am due to go back to work (in May) with reduced hours and more children in child care, ironically we will be on less a month than when I was on leave, so we need to cut back again to how we spent back 18 months ago.

DH finds it very hard to budget so I am planning to budget without him knowing soon LOL so we will see how that goes. I know we can live within reduced means from what we live on now as you say its just a case of changing spending habits. Our worst thing is he suggests going out for lunch at weekends and I find it very hard to say no. If I could just learn to say Id rather cook at home then we'd be half way there LOL

Oh yes and thanks for the tip[ re adtrader, if gumtree yields no results I'll give that a try, def worth bearing in mind - thanks
    - and you;ve convinced me, I am going out to the garden NOW to tidy it a bit in readiness .....will be back in a bit having tidied

Right, done all I can on Work work. I've hit a problem and need the guys in the office to sort it out - which of course they can't do until tomorrow :D

Going to put the duck in the oven to slowly roast for dinner now, batten down the hatches in the garden ready for the gales and then do the bid thingy.
