savvy- thats a beautiful card..........lovely idea.

Thanks for your kind comments on mine and thanks Polly for putting it on for me.
I used some cream textured card, cut the aperture myselt and edged it with peel off (twig like). The ribbon at the left hand side is laura ashley peel off I got from the crafty shop - flowers were also from the craft shop, sort of 'arranged' them and stuck them on with glue dot, then stuck ribbon on with another glue dot and added the Happy Birthday peel off.

(first one I did was purple, had flowers on the outside of the aperture then I added some on the inside as welll...............over the top it certainly was......flowers and ribbons everywhere..................lol

Goodness me what a flurry of activity since I was on yesterday morning!

Love your card, pap, I was going to ask you how you did that lovely aperture so thanks for sharing (I want one of those 'wizardy nesty' things now! :D ) Thanks also for the idea of colouring with pigment inks, I wouldn't have thought of doing that. Chalk ink? Are those the felt-tip type with chalk in? Also, what is a 'crafters companion?' - any links?

Hows melissa getting on? Have you been inspired yet?

Shame about ilc leaving, I hope she is still cardmaking...

I like the way you've used tones in your card mary, nice use of beiges and gold.

What can I say savvy & edinburghlass, you both sound 'kerfuddled' - to quote a well-known MSE personality! Took me a few read throughs to work out what you were saying! :D Well done savvy for making an attempt at what was quite a difficult theme. I love putting personal photos in or on cards too.

And finally, thanks for your description, mary.

Hi, quiksave, no inspiration so far I'm afraid. I keep looking at the card thinking that I must finish it, everyone is putting me to shame with their creations. I WILL finish today, (so that I can use my new digital camera!).

Okay - I've been naughty. Instead of finishing my aperture card I've bought more things!!! I was just looking on Liz's crafts and she's got 10% off until Monday. I got a mini decoupage book (yes - more decoupage!) of flower fairies for £3.59. It says there are 24 images to decoupage so I thought that was good value.

anyone here have an idea about where i can get some reasonably priced gift boxes, (like these - the bigger ones) i dont even need the lids because they will be covered in cellophane (any cheap suppliers of this will too be much appreciated) to make like display boxes
