Lovely polly. I made a couple for my teenage grandchildren to go with their retro sweet boxes (thought they'd make a change from easter eggs........got an idea for one for baby grandson but I do get stuck on those for adults. There's a couple of people I'm trying to do some for who have been really good to my Mum and they deserve a bit of thought plus some of my closest friends who've always been there for me, not forgetting, of course, my Mum. Managed hers ok with an image of a bowl of roses and some extra flowers added with a bow.Mary

You can use them for your cardmaking. If you type over what is already there, your words will be in the right place. I will try it out for you and see how easy/hard it is.0 -
Quicksave, mumoftwo and polly1976 love your cards!
I make my own cards too, but so far only to use for family and friends birthdays'. But I always get stuck with men/boy birthdays. I often end up laying 2 or 3 coloured pieces of card and then writing Happy Birthday in a gold pen diagonally. Anyone get any other ideas for men/boys?0 -
Men are always difficult.................my eldest son is into Beatles and really anything musical so he's fairly easy, youngest is artistic, loves natural things so anything done in 'natural' colours (corrugated card etc.) suits him.
Teenage grandson (15)is more into computers - I think. I lose track at times. Can't keep up with the music he likes either so tend to get a bit stuck. He likes football but not that much.
So really they're the only things I can think of, music, football, computers, cars, gardening (if he's a gardening type)Mary

For nephew I googled images of martial arts, he does kung fu, it came up with a nice cartoon image in black. printed it out, found some japanese lettering as well on google, just copied and pasted the images random on a sheet of paper, printed that out. Used part of it as background paper, stuck cartoon image on black card and then with foam pads on the background.
Also printed Bart Simpson image and used yellow background.
like this:
and this:
and for my friends husband who is into darts I printed out this:0 -
Amazing some of the images you can find 'googling'.........good way to randomly search for ideas.
If I get really stuck with men/boys I used really snazzy paper and try and do some sort of layered design on it, either triangles, circles, squares....that sort of thing.Mary

I haven't actually made any cards yet, just doing some research, hoping to start making them with my toddler - she's very crafty!

What I love about card making is the wide variety of materials that can be used- this year for my Xmas cards I used a pack of gift tags as decoration. I've also used things such as the pretty paper flowers are wrapped in.
I love peel-off's too, the borders you can get add a really nice touch.0
