Kethry - I got some clear embossing powder ages ago, its fab. It means you have so many other options re colour, as when you use it its the colour of the ink pad that you see. I also used to use a clear ink pad and apply it over the whole image and then dust with the clear embossing powder, use the heat gun and then do a few more layers like this. The finished image is shiny and looks like porcelain.

i have a feeling i'm going to be spending a lot of money on embossing powder.. LOL. I had a go earlier, i've gold, silver and clear embossing powder, and a clear inkpad (as well as several smaller inkpads in colours that i already had, that are suitable for embossing too). I had a go with a couple of stamps in different styles, and then got to work coping out and cutting out some stencils i want to reuse a different way. after i'd put it all away i suddenly thought: i could put the colour on a stencilled image, THEN top with clear embossing ink, then powder... pretty much what you suggested.

One question: if you clear embossed an image and then wanted to punch through it, would that work, or would the embossing part crack? any ideas?

    thanks!!

p.s. never mind. i answered my own question via an experiment. it went through okay, it definetly doesn't like being folded in half (it flaked off with that) but the actual punch part was fine, just a little tougher than normal i think.

i started to read this thread from the beginning: got as far as page 50 and gave up.. LOL. However, i'd like to join in if i can... Not sure i'm up for the challenges because i've a challenge of my own to make: mom's company hosts a charity christmas fair every year, and i make cards to sell via that for christmas, so i've rather a lot of cards to make by December 1st, so i can't really afford the time to make any other cards unless they're needed!! (I'll happily join in a christmas card challenge though!!! :T and join in the regular challenges after christmas...)

However, i thought i would share photos of some of the cards i've made recently... today i made a card for my sister-in-law who is moving house this weekend:

    card - inside - envelope

the leaf is a real one, i saw it when i was out walking my dog this morning and loved the colours in it. So i brought it home, dried it off, then stamped it all over with a clear embossing ink pad, smothered it in clear embossing powder, then applied the heat gun. the shiny effect you see on the leaf is the result. the background paper is just a simple print of skeletonised leaves. Inside, i did a couple of green/orange hearts, and followed that theme through on the envelope.

the other card i made recently was for a friend's 21st birthday. the leaf card in the background came from an autumn pack i got from Lidl; the pebblestones were cut from a card someone sent me earlier in the year (they were originally the background photo for some flowers - i cut the flowers off for something else, and was left with these, which i trimmed into squares and used a corner punch to round them off). i think it works rather well.

I've made quite a few other cards: there's a link to the set on my flickr page here, if anyone wants to see....
