I needed to make a christening card and found this lovely free image i made it into a decoupage type card and put the dottie image over a larger "enjoy your special day circle". It looked really good even though a say so myself and a bit unusual. I actually couldnt believe i found the free image just as i needed it. lol. Scroll down and you will find the images i mean.

hello ladies
Thank you for all your advice and ideas. I would love the link for the disney decoupage (i think Mellissa75)
I've so far only been using the free papers with magazines to do my cards i'm hoping to upload one to show what i've done so far. I can't believe how good your cards are i just don't think i'll ever be that good.
I'm really looking forward to getting my crafters companion as it does envelopes. Do i use plain blank card or paper or do i use nice stuff?
The card that i've bought so far i've got from the paper shop is it better to buy from there or to buy packs online?
I'm looking to get gems and things as well should i look online or is there somewhere else i should go to?
Sorry for all the questions i'm so new to it but so excited too! i feel so sad :rotfl:0 -
Cazarol...if you click on the image then once its open right click and then click "save as" to where you want to save it too
Re sizing ....I just use windows picture viewer and that gives differnet option on size of print out like full page or tiny postage stamp size
Charlie...You can use what ever paper you want ..Im due to get mine soon and I have been saving all my scarps and the stuff I have spoilt on the printer to practice on
Gems ...I get minbe from ebay there are several sellers doing them and they are much better value than the shops
These are very good for paper and card http://www.payperbox.co.uk/card--paper-1-c.asp works out to 10p per sheet delivery is £2.99 though so I always order alot to get my monies worth...lolIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
Abusybee, I entered the onestop competition and my pictures haven't been added to the gallery either. xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Question for all you cardmakers.. I'm starting to learn about embossing, i have powder, ink, heatgun, stamps etc., but i got to thinking.
what if you want to emboss something and you don't have a stamp for it? are there any sort of, i dunno, pens or something, that you can draw and it leaves a line of the pigment ink (whether clear or coloured) for you to sprinkle your embossing powder on and heat with the [STRIKE]raygun[/STRIKE] heatgun (it looks like a raygun, i feel all 1950s sci-fi-ey when i use it.. !!). Anyone know what i'm on about, and if so, what's it called? I can't be the first person to think about wanting to be able to emboss something freestyle (i.e. without a stamp)...!!0 -
They're called embossing pens and come in several different colours. I've added a link for ebay so you can see what you're looking for as you can usually pick them up in craft shops quite cheaply.

ah, paddingtondoo, that's exactly what i mean. perfect. thankyou. i was thinking, if i wanted to emboss an existing picture, maybe the edges or something, and how to do it, i tried nudging the pad on the embossing inkpad side earlier and dipping a paintbrush into it but that didn't work very well. thanks - i might just get this one as its clear!!!0

Okay I'll try posting again. I wrote a long reply before and managed to delete it all, so annoying!!!
Polly - can't wait to see your first creation on the onestop website plus everyone's entries (abusybee and ikkle87), in the competition, good luck!
Rainmac - best wishes to you and your Mum, we are all thinking of you! She sounds so brave. Did you get anything from heidehi?
Kethry - I got some clear embossing powder ages ago, its fab. It means you have so many other options re colour, as when you use it its the colour of the ink pad that you see. I also used to use a clear ink pad and apply it over the whole image and then dust with the clear embossing powder, use the heat gun and then do a few more layers like this. The finished image is shiny and looks like porcelain.
Charlie23 - I got my decoupage books from ebay. Here's a link for a disney fairy one that I have just bought:

the seller also does a disney animal one that I have just finished using. I'll try and post a few pics soon. There are others sellers that stock them that are a bit more expensive, if you search on ebay for "disney mini decoupage book" you'll see them. I ordered a disney princess and a mickey mouse one too! I have another link for ebay for some gems, they seem quite cheap but I haven't got round to ordering any yet so I can't tell you what they're like:

I still get excited about my craft stuff, so you're not alone!
Abusybee - fab halloween cards, my favourite is the ghost one too, I love the combination of the orange and black.0
