  • What a great thread - I have spent ages reading through it LOL!!

Me and a couple of my friends get together once a week to make cards to raise funds for our local Mother & Toddlers group.....it has gone so well since we started a yr and a half ago!

Just wanted to thank you all for so much inspiration, ideas and great links to some very useful websites! There are some beautiful cards here!

    Vicky x
  • Beautiful card rainmac - love that stitched letter still!

Well, hand is on the mend now, still a little battered and bruised, but instead of a huge bandage, I'm down to two plasters now, so I've a bit of movement in my fingers at least.

Just spoke to Mum on the phone, and reaslied it's just under a week until we go to York - hurrah!
In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!
  • OOOUUUCCCHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Maggiebob hope your fingers are better soon.

Mary a really lovely wedding card. well done:T :T

Polly - Wonderful pop out card. :T :T The ribbon idea to keep it fastened is brilliant. I will be borrowing that lol. :rotfl: :rotfl: Did you use double sided tape and glitter to make the stripes or something else? and did you get your cuttlebug???????

Hope everyones relations are all on the mend soon x
    :heart2::rotfl: :rotfl: :heart2:I LOVE A BARGIN:heart2: :rotfl: :rotfl:
TIME TO START SHOPPING FOR NEXT CHRISTMAS
    I LOVE THE SALES!!!!!
  • Rainmac - best wishes for your Mum. Your card is beautiful, I just love those stitched letters, they are so cute.
Mary - OH's brother lives in Speke, we live in Toxteth - yikes! Never been to Greasby. The city center is lovely - so many old buildings! There's meant to be a new massive shopping center in town, I haven't been though. Glad to hear your MIL is on the mend.
Maisiesmum - hello and welcome, I hope you'll be posting pics of your cards soon.
  • Hi all, about 3 pages to catch up on.

Fantastic cards, Maggie, Polly, Mary, Rainmac and anyone else I missed (sorry mind is boggled)
Get well soon to Maggie, Marys MIL and best wishes for Rainmacs mum. (again apologies if I have missed anyone)

Sorry to Krystal tips, I haven't been on, but congratulations on your marriage hope everything went perfectly well and that you live a long and happy life together :)

Possibly not going to be posting as much/around as much. Things are rubbish here at the minute and with OH working away that is just making everything worse!

The good news is that I have been offered a job :) ... (I wasn't planning to do anything other than working from home til Maddison was at nursery - sorry to any I offend but I believe children need their parents etc) However my MIL has offered me a job at the club on a saturday night, it's only 4 hours but its a bit of extra money to sort for christmas and I will be working the bar with my FIL :) Am quite chuffed :) will be nice to feel human again and have a conversation with someone who is over the age of 16 months old lol

Well done you, that's fab news :D Getting out and talking to others makes a huge difference I think when you are a mum at home. One of the reasons I love this board is that people are really friendly and helpful and happy for me to chat. Also I'm not just stuck with the washing, ironing, clearing up, feeding kiddies...whilst in the house ;) I restart with the card making tomorrow night after a long break (lady's been on holiday and then had poorly children so things have been on hold for a while). The money comes in handy and gives me an outside the house interest. Both good news in my book :D

rusty - well done getting a job...........drives me daft sometimes being surrounded by 11 yr old and 18 yr old.............lol

melissa - didn't go to the new shopping centre when we were there in June but did go to the two cathedrals.......I'd never seen them and in that little graveyard down the steps of the Anglican cathedral there's most fantastic gravestone - looks like a tree trunk, complete with leaves -and OH had used all the film in the camera...................lol I've never been to Toxteth or Speke but OH did the otheryear just to have a look at where he used to live and take a few piccys for fam.history file. Greasby is lovely little town......fairly quiet.

MIL is feeling a bit queazy this morning - to be expected I suppose, and her blood pressure dropped but they seem to have sorted that out. Fingers crossed as its early days yet for her.
Made her a 'get well card' and written a letter for her anyway. Lucky I had some window cards among those I got via freecycle -made the card a lot easier to make.......
OH not rushing up there yet, wait and see how things go.

Thanks guys :) Sounds quite strange unless you have been in the situation yourself but I think adult conversation is needed lol ... I am quite looking forward to it so fingers crossed I don't get in a fluster and smash all the glasses lol. think part of my main problem at the minute is that I am stuck 24/7 doing the same things over and over and whilst I could go out I don't get the opportunity as I am always busy doing something else. Plus with OH away I get no help with anything and no time to myself. So have been slowly cracking up til almost breaking point. Hoping this will give me some time away from the children (again without it sounding nasty) lol

Well done Polly, glad you got them all finished :)

    Thanks Mary

Good luck Rusty - doesn't sound nasty at all wanting to be away from little children for a bit. When mine were very young I was on my own and had them all day and every day so the chance of 3 nights work at a youth club was heaven sent...........one of the girls from the youth club baby sat for me (for free !! bonus !) and I got not only adult company but also the lively teenagers who have now grown up and a lot are still in touch and become friends. It kept my sanity I know.:j
