Might have been me melissa - I did have a query about decoupage. I've done it now anway and used the foam pads. Thought I'd get it done as I''m away Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
It's not the sort of decoupage I've seen on various sites, but I like it and even OH said it was ok:j Just used up some odds bits I'd got.Mary

Hello, I used to use the decoupage varnish, it's not essential. You paint it onto your finished image and it makes it look like its ceramic rather than paper (sort of). I used to really like the effect but my OH complained about the smell. I got carried away once painting loads of pictures at once with it and managed to get them all stuck together so I had to chuck them all away - gutted!
Thanks for the tip on posting!!0 -
pap - love the card.........simple and very effective..........brilliant lettering...........where do you get that from ?:T
mary they are all free fonts instaled on my pc, much cheaper than buying letters/alpha dies etc etc. I get all mine free from da font and use them in microsoft word and print from there. This one is actually bell bottom laser, very retro0 -

Does anyone else get a bit worried about the recipient's reaction when they get a card you have made for them? It must be a bit like how an artist feels when he exhibits his work for the first time. When they are happy, it makes me feel happy too. Strange this card thing.....Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

I always get worried when I give a card, I think its because you spent so much time and thought on them.0

pap - thanks for the link. I'll have a look at that later.
I do always worry about whether folk will like my cards though I know there are some that do appreciate them.
My son works at an art college and went to art college himself so he always draws or paints something for us when its birthday or christmas and he is never happy with what he's done and always very apologetic about it which is daft cos they're always brilliant.Mary

Here is my Challenge Card:
It was ever so simple to make. I used free denim background paper from the Canon website (so thanks for that link) and as you can see on the 2nd picture, it is a real pocket - taken from a charity shop pair of jeans, stuck on with tacky glue with real money and a real pen put in the pocket. A real badge was attatched to the outside.
This was done as a young boys card but of course this type of card can be adapted to almost everyone.
Here I changed the badge to a keyring teddybear and the second has a different badge on it. The possibilities are endless - fabric painting, glitter detail, etc. Embelish to suit the receipient.
This isn't an original idea by me, I read it somewhere (can't remember where) but I love it and its so simple! I used free background paper and a pair of girls jeans costing £1 so it makes a good money saving idea too!I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
Thats a briliant idea qwiksave............might use that for my grandson -its his 16th birthday at christmas.......he'd be tickled pink with that ! And I've got some badges from way back when.........'hippies against the bomb' and all that.......plus a few more...........lol
When OH eventually sorts his old clothes out I can grab a pocket or two.:TMary
