Happy Mother's Day - yeah right!!!!!

It's not Mother's Day. It's Mothering Sunday which is always on the 4th Sunday in Lent.
I was very pleased and gratified that my stepdaughter remembered it - she's the only one who does - and that she took the trouble to find a Mothering Sunday card.
If we'd gone to church this morning to the All-Age Worship I'd have been presented with a primrose in a pot - the children distribute these among all the women, whether mothers or not. We're going to the annual church meeting this afternoon, then tea, then the evening service. Might be a primrose or two left over!
Happy Mothering Sunday!

I agree. It may be commercialised but a kiss and a 'Thanks, I love you mum' is so easy to do and yet the impact on us mums is huge!
They could even make a card on the computer rather than buy one - it wouldn't matter to me as it is the thought that counts.
Yep, that would have been good also. In fact a computer made/handmade one would have meant more, as it would have been his time rather than his money he would be spending! When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -

Margaret,
How come you go twice in one day?

Margaret,
How come you go twice in one day?
Because there's a morning service and an evening service. But we normally only go to one or t'other. Some people go to both. We have to go to the annual church meeting, DH and I, because we're both members of the church council. The annual church meeting is open to anyone who goes to that church, or whether they go to any of the associated things that go on there, like 'Happy Hands' (toddler club).
DH has a reading to do at the evening service: 1 Samuel ch 16 vv 1-12. I thought he would know about that - how David was chosen to be king of Israel - but he says he doesn't.

I'm afraid I don't think boys get better with age either. My brother, who is 24 and lives away from home with his girlfriend, appears to have forgotten (unless he is still in his pit!). Being the older (2 yrs) sister I always have to text/email him to remind him of birthdays and the like.
My best friend has 2 younger brothers (22 and 18) and she buys all the cards/presents for mother's day/birthdays/easter etc for both of them as they never remember and they just pay her back! And she doesn't live with them all!
Turnaround Sue - Happy Mother's Day to you! i'm sure your son is just being a sulky teenager who doesn't know that he has done anything wrong and I'm sure he does appreciate you greatly in his own Kevin the teenager like way!

A bit of an OTT reaction I think.
Its not the law to observe this highly commercial day.
Theres plenty of other days where mums can & should be appreciated - not just to line the coffers of the card & flower shops.0
