Oh well, that's that then..........

Dear Customer
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately, despite our extensive efforts to secure further stock, we have not been able to find a supplier capable of meeting the high standards that we demand. Sadly, in this case we are unable to fulfil your order, and hope that you can find a suitable alternative in your catalogue.
We do hope that this will not cause you too much disappointment or inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Kind Regards
Sarah Gibbs

As for buying items from catalogue companies with credit cards you will often find that even when you do this they set up a credit account for you (whether you want it or not) and add you to their catalogue mailing list. Littlewoods have done this to me on a number of occasions and I ALWAYS pay by credit card in advance, but Experian shows that I have a number of catalogue credit accounts set up.
Really? They do that? Cheeky monkeys!! Thanks for this, I'm going to email them and make sure they haven't set an account up for me. I would have bought the necklace anyway but definatley don't want the account!0 -
20% off your FIRST order! That implies that they are tracking you and therefore you have an account set up. They do this whether you want to or not.I got the letter today saying should be delivery within 14 days - it's £1.60 as you get 20% off first order

I would forego the discount if we actually had a chance of receiving the necklace :mad:0 -
I noticed when I ordered that there were two options when entering payment details, to create an account or just pay for the item, the default option was to create an account, luckily I noticed so unchecked that box.
I've had a letter too saying that they are getting more stock in 14 days, the price in the letter is £2 so presumably they haven't opened an account for me, phew. Fingers crossed that some of us do get it though I'm not holding my breath.
Just ocurred to me that the low price might have been a way of attracting new customers to create accounts, I'm sure they know full well the power of viral marketing and that an item like that will find it's way onto boards like MSE.0 -
I had the 14 days letter, dated 3rd March. The email I posted above was sent yesterday, so in the meantime they must have discovered they had run out  . Wouldn't mind betting a few of you get the same email today or tomorrow.

This was my point in my original response to this thread, for which I was flamed and all my responses deleted because I wasn't being nice to people!Just ocurred to me that the low price might have been a way of attracting new customers to create accounts,
You have to be careful when catalogue companies have what look like really cheap offers - they sucker you in and set up an account, even if you say you don't want one, then if they run out of stock the cancel your order but keep you on their books. Viral marketing it is, ethical it definitely isn't.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0
