Thanks Discodee for your replies to the 'DM book token scans so it must be OK' brigade. And good for Tesco Crawley (quite a large store, I believe) for being the first to block the token, hope some others do follow but it would probably have to be on a store-by-store basis as the barcode is different every month.
What Discodee said is totally what I would have said if I wasn't so busy today with DS3's birthday. And I haven't got double-standards, the way I look at couponing is that those who are 'really' paying for my shopping are other shoppers who are not using coupons. Think about it, it's they who are really subsidising us couponers as they pay full whack for products we are using coupons for. I don't feel guilty about that, I have tried telling friends and even my own Mum about coupons but some people don't want to know or think they don't have the time. I have given my Mum coupons and she's forgotten to use them.
It's exactly the same as the little old lady who pays £1.85 for a product that's on offer at 2 for £2.50, but she only buys one as she doesn't need 2. Then you or I come along and take up the '2 for £2.50' offer. Who partly subsidises the promotion, really? I think it's the little old ladies & others who don't even read such offers - the manufacturers know that many shoppers will not notice offers & their overall price achieved is somewhere between the offer price & the normal price.
With coupon promotions, it's no different. The manufacturers have already budgeted for xx thousand coupons when they first cost up the promotion & print them, and only a small percentage of those printed are ever redeemed. It's much cheaper for them to do this than when some Supermarkets actually take 50p off on the shelf edge ticket. Coupons/leaflets also encourage some people to go and look for a product they wouldn't have bought otherwise.
So I don't feel sorry for the Manufacturers, not a bit!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Is the Mariah Carey Perfume worth getting with the coupon? Just thought I would ask everyone before rushing off to buy the paper! Furthermore, is it a Superdrug coupon? Thanks
It is a Superdrug specific coupon and therefore it can only used at Superdrug.
To be honest I haven't the faintest idea if it's worth buying though.Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive0 -
Aarrgggh! Does the DM Book token debate have to crop up every time the damn coupon gets printed? I almost want to poke me own eyes out with a rolled-up copy of the paper!
The ones who use the DM book token are screwing Tesco. Good luck to 'em! Tesco can't mind too much or else they'd automatically bar the coupon.
The ones who put thru MOCs are getting Tesco to screw the manufacturers on their behalf.
Those Tescos that have a crackdown are more likely reacting to those who put thru tonnes of MOCs than the odd DM coupon. There's only two DM coupons issued per month compared to the myriad MOCs - it's fairly obvious which type of coupon gets presented more often. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Oh my Goodness ... It's knee deep on here isn't it ....
I have just come back from Sainsbug's for my free Bulmer's Cider ... It is only a small store and they didn't have Pear ... so I got two bottles of normal apple cider ... the coupon needs to be entered manually anyway as do all Sainsbugs ones ...
... and my free Bags for Life ... they are currently 'mad' blue Sport Relief ones ... so wear your sunglasses ...
PS ... and at the risk of stepping inadvertantly into the ring and getting punched ... as Quoia said ... the QI Dvd is 'Strictly Come Duncing' ... I bought it at Christmas for a friend ...... Doh!
PPS .... and please don't examine any of my spelling too carefully ... am hopeless ... :rolleyes:LittleBill ... "The riches of a man can be measured by what he can do without"0 -

I believe it has an artificial, sickly cloying air to it, a hint of antiseptic, with some bizarre over stated top notes which last for hours.
If it's anything like her records, anyway...;)0 -

Just what I think too, do we have to go through it all again every month, I just don't want to read it anymore, it almost seems easier not to post about the DM coupon as we all know it's there anyway.
BTW Bham-dave it's a coupon, not a token, I wouldn't want you getting told off for that one :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

I would never dream of picking up on someone's spelling but in this, my first ever posting, I will make a deserved exception for 'quoia': where is this place called EXISTANCE? Is it anywhere near EXISTENCE? Please do not criticise the spelling of other people, especially when you cannot get it right yourself!
Er it is actually called QI: Strictly Come Duncing, nobody was making fun of you.0 -

Hi,
(just for the record, I never used MOC because whenever I am able to go to a tesco and ask what their policy is, I get told, I need to actually buy the product)
but bham-dave I think you're wrong about that, it is not the myriad of MOCs for items tesco actually sells that stand out, it is the DM book coupon, which from what I read here, is used several times by the same person in different transactions. I keep reading how people buy 10+ copies of the DM... I'm pretty sure this coupon that Tesco cannot redeem will stand out rather than the smallish ones. Just a thought.
PS: The daily mail is the most read daily in the UK... I wonder if couponing is taken into consideration in terms, not of sales, but actual reading. :rolleyes:0
