I'd like to join please. Not sure where to set my budget - its just me but have a liking for the Finest / Taste the Difference / The Best type ranges I need to break!!

I'm going to sart with £200 including any meals out, lunches, etc. Sounds extravagant given how well some of you seem to manage but think I've probably been spending more than that :o Will keep receipts & spending diary

    Wish me luck!!

I'm back in for £300, hopefully this time I'll stay in budget. Last month I thought I was doing pretty well, at the start I was then the takeaways called my name EVERY WEEK!!!

We were going to go to Lidl today (1st time) but it was closed until Saturday due to a refurbishment  . So reluctantly we went to Asda which was the nearest supermarket to us at that time. Well, we thought we'd have a nice little total but ended up spending £93.49  , and that's for one week. We're definitely back to Mr S for the rest of the month.

Popped in to see my Mum before we went shopping and she gave us a load of nibbly things from the freezer. I decided to use them for dinner tonight, then noticed the best before date was July 2007 :undecided . We ate them anyway :rotfl: . So if we all end up with food poisoning I'll know why.vomit-smiley-9529.gif

  • Hi,
Have been much more organised since finding this site about three weeks ago! I think I can do it under £250 this month. That's for three dogs, three cats, two growing boys and two adults. So far have spent £77 on a tesco shop (down from the £170 last month....am discovering own brands and value!!!) In theory this only leaves the milkman (about thirty a month), fruit and veg, cheese and eggs and the odd nice chicken from the market on saturdays. Making my own bread and the age old trick of watering down milk for tea and coffee (hahaha, got this tip off one of you guys, the husband pooh-poohed but hasnt realised yet that I have been doing it for weeks!!) has saved a bit lol.

At last I was able to go shopping for food as DD decided she was well enough to go to school today!
First I went to the bank and withdrew £300 cash for my grocery shopping for the month. (The budget is £325 but I left the £25 in the bank in the hope that I might not need that bit!)
Then I went to Lidls and spent £54 and then to Tesco where I spent another £60. I handed over a huge pile of vouchers at Tescos (many of which were for things I hadn't actually bought but just tore them out of magazines and this knocked around £2 off the total). There was still nothing worth having on the reduced section but last nights tea was 8 reduced sausages for 66p and tonights was some individual steak pies for 35p each!
I also bought a few bits of fruit and veg from a market stall in the town which cost me £4 and some meat in the butchers totalling £12.
After all that, my money left has rapidly disappeared to just £179 left but I have done a menu plan for the next two weeks and should't need to buy much else for a while. Actually I've just realised its £179 plus the £25 still in the bank but I'll try to forget I've got the extra £25 tucked away for later in the month when things get desperate. For now the cupboards, fridge and freezers are lovely and full!
    Good luck everyone.

  • Hi all, can I join please?

This is the first month I will have attempted the challenge though have managed to drop my spend from about £100 per week to £75-80. :T

My month will start on Saturday and includes 2 birthday parties, Mother's Day and school holidays so may be a stretch, but I'm hoping to stay under the CCCS recommendation of £264 for 1 adult, 2 teenagers and 5 cats.

    Wish me luck :D

Hi can I join this month.

MrsM can you put me down for £200 please. 2 adults 1 toddler and 2 cats.

I'm usually around £100 per week for shopping plus takeaways but a little meal planning plus stock taking in my cupboard and freezer means i think I can do it for half. It will be interesting to see what it works out like.

Our month starts saturday 1st March.

    Hi

Please can I join this month! Been following the previous months thread but need to keep a lid on the spending this month. I would like to say £250 but will probably be more in the region of £350 as I need to restock almost everything. Going to the farmers market tomorrow and Mr T will be delivering over the weekend.

Put me down for £260 (went way over in Feb as it was actually 5 weeks shopping that had to be done - I hadn't worked it out properly at the start,)

This is for 4 weeks so it should be better - hopefully!!
