Mrs M, you've done brilliantly with your weight loss! What are you doing?

    Thankyou :D

I started at exactly 21st...ohhhh the shame :o ... so im now 15st 12.5 so still have a long way to go..but for the 1st time ever i KNOW im going to get there..and im half way there now :j

Im over with the lovely lot on the old style thread.. we are all doing our own thing ..for me i am cooking pretty much everything from scratch,

Apart from the occasional sugar free pop, and the full fat milk that i water down as i can't stand the "full" versions i have dumped every other low fat, low sugar, reduced this that and the other :rotfl: .... after years of all these products i now use butter, mayo, greek yog, etc .. and eat sensible portions of "normal" food so i still make my own bread, meat pies, casseroles etc ..

I have also stopped myself from thinking of food as good or bad.. it just makes me want stuff more.. now if i want something i have it, enjoy it and im done...
The strange thing is that i started in August and until i went home in December i had no chocolate, cakes crisps etc.. as i had no cravings at all -over xmas i had a bit of chocolate, but since getting back home again i have not had any since... I really don't crave that sort of thing  ...

I know it sounds strange but i now realy do believe that all the artifical stuff they ram into lower fat/cal stuff messes your system up and makes you crave more..

Exercise consists of walking.... some weeks i go every day..mainly as i get tetchy if i don't get some fresh air :rotfl: ...but last week i only went twice... usually 1 1/4 hr to 1 1/2 hrs and mainly to the supermarket even if its just for 1 item
If i could bottle it i would give it away as i started my 1st diet at 14  , im just 36 and at last i have found a way of eating that i can see myself doing for the rest of my life ..not a dreaded "D" word :p

I don't think joining Rosemary connolley is un :money: ... she encourages you to cook your own things etc... So i hope you find it works for you..will keep my fingers crossed for you ;)
right i will go away now as im rambling...again :rotfl:

  • nopotrpin, fallen angel shelley and mortgagefreeforme for your replies. When i lived in London, a few years ago, I had Organic Box Delivery (Abel & Cole) and they were very good - they even gave you receipes for you, in case you weren't sure (they delviered the best Bacon I have ever had!:D ).

We now live in Ely, and have only been here a few months - does anyone live or know of any good box delivery schemes that might cover us?
I've seen one that uses the local Mr T's for delivery, and Mr T even sells their veg boxes, which I've looked at, and they seem Ok, (I forget their name) but they do seem to import a lot of items, which seems a little odd to me!?

I'm only buying free range (Mr T doesn't sell the RSPCA chickens), but I am finding it hard to find free range Pork/beef/lamb - it all seems to be Organic, or Store's own brand - and for all the pretty labels, and meeting the stores welfare standards, until I knoe it's a least free range, i'm not going to pick it up (whether it's meant to be good quality or not!) does anyone know where I could find out if this store-brand meat is free range or not (i'm assuming not, otherwise they'd say, right?! )

Actually i've just remembered we have a farmers market every couple of weeks in Ely, I'll probably head there when it's on next to see if they can beat Mr T for Price!;)
  • Have been interested in this for a few months and have now decided to give it a go! Have taken on a bigger mortgage and need to take control of money a bit more.
So .... I will try for £220......for two adults, two children and a medium sized dog.
(Normally spend around £300+ so this would be a substantial saving.)

    Good luck

    Hi all,

Can I join the March challenge? I'm planning on £50 a week for 2 adults & a 3 year old. Breastfeeding the tiny one!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500
  • Well I just did'nt realise how much money I wasted before. In 2 weeks all I have spent is £9.65 that is for bread, milk and fruit and veg.The rest has come from my storecupboard and freezer, and they are still full.I'm finding I just don't want to spend money if at all possible, and am starting to realy enjoy the challenge of using what I have to create meals.
One thing though,my husband thinks I'm acting strange. He says I'm turning into an old skinflint.Rather that than being broke.
  • Hi Can I join please. This is the first time I have done this although have thought about joining before, just not been brave enough.
I have set my budget for 240.00 for the month. This is for 2 adults, 3 hungry kids, 1 greedy labrador and the cats (although I think I have enough cat food. This is for all our groceries and cleaning items.
Looking forward to my march challenge, time to get myself organised.
    Thanks
credit card balances March 2008 £5159.11
Time to pick myself up and start again.
  • Okay, I'd like to join in the fun please! Discussed it with DH last night and we've agreed to try on £200 which is for the two of us and 3 cats. We'll see how that goes!

Looking forward to this! We're counting the start of the month as from tomorrow, 1st March.

    Cheers

    Hi everybody

Was 83p over budget in Feb :o (Another beating from the DW :D).

Lets all have a great month

    Love the FM
  • I would like to join the challenge this month too, please!

Hubby's payday is 15th, and I'm planning to start doing a once monthly Asda delivery, with weekly top-ups, so I will aim for £250 this month, aiming at the average month working out at £200 when I get organised.
We *will* be starting spending diaries today too, so I will better be able to work out a complete budget next month.

So that's £250 for March, for two adults and one bump.
