Please can you put me down for £500 again? I went over in February, by £50, and that figure doesn't include drinks (cough cough), but I'm relatively pleased - Feb turned out to be a long month not a short month because of how paydays fell. And OH is astonished: we're saving money. Last month, I had a £1500 surplus at the end, which was for the holiday fund. This month, even after paying over £500 to my dentist, we had a £1300 surplus. And I have £200 coming for a contract job. So the challenge, watching what I spend, etc, is definitely working.
    Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600
    Overpayments to date: £3000
    June grocery challenge: 400/600
  • Hello all :hello:

I went over budget for Feb, so I'll go for £120 for March due to Easter. Easter is second to Christmas in our family for the amount of food eaten! I know its not old style, but I'm joining Rosemary Conley next week, so I'm not sure what effect that'll have on the budget.

Mrs M, you've done brilliantly with your weight loss! What are you doing?

I failed by £28.94 in feb  I'm upping my budget to £250.

IN MY DEFENCE the teen trus have 3 friends that house-share, I think they must either be skint or they spend all of their money on beer (probably the latter lol) because they end up eating at my house  :D

  • Hi

Having come in under budget in Feb I'm going to reduce my budget by £10 to £240.00 for March (even though it's a longer month I still have some stuff to use up in the freezer). Thats for 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 rabbits & 1 fish!

    Good luck everyone.

  • Hi all and welcome to the newbies

My target for March is £200

Have already spent £23.76 of this weeks money so have a budget of £26.24 left for this week but there are some good offers on in Mr S at the mo so might do a bit of a stock up(depends how much I can carry home).

Will update again tomorrow after my raid on the shops is completed. Just to say I have managed with my experiment of using my sainsburys credit card to buy my shopping therefore getting double nectar points. I think the secret has been deducting the money virtually from my bank account as soson as it is spent.

Good luck to all and lets be frugal out there!
  • Hi My target this month is £150. I really would like to get down to £100 for the two of us for some months as I have cut out all the waste of food. Popped into our local Rainbow store last night and found their cooked chickens reduced to £1.18. These are supposed to be reared in approved conditions so bought one, hubby used some for packed lunch and will use rest for lemon chicken tonight. Should have bought three and froze them for stir frys and pies, will remember that next time. I do have hubby on my side and he is getting as good as me for spotting a bargain and cooking for two meals at a time. I was given parsnips from an allotment holden and made a big batch of soup which has turned out really tasty, this is me who lived off bought meals just a year ago and often failed to manage on £200 per month for food.
Good luck to everyone for March

    Hi to you all.

Please count me in again this month. February turned out worse than i thought it would do. I have to sympathise with KuneKune as it's seemed a long month for me too.

I'm shopping for me and my OH and 2 kids under 4. Oh, and my dog Frank.
I know March has an extra 2 days but reckon I need to plan my meals and stop buying stuff that I'm not likely to use in a month of sundays.

Gonna stick my neck out and say £ 280 for this month.

    Good luck everyone.
