I'd like to join in, please put me down for £200 which is for 2 adults and 3 kids. I buy petfood monthly in a seperate budget, is that cheating? My petfood budget was £65 but by swapping to buying online I've managed to shave it down to £45 so I'm well impressed!!! My march petfood purchase is on 14th, so who knows, might get it a bit lower by searching more :)

ETA my month starts today :)
  • Ohh isn't this exciting...the start of a new thread and challenge..the will we won't we make it. :j

All the best everyone and forget if you didn't make it before, doesn't matter. I had months of messing up and then the last two months it all came right. ;)

Going to introduce one shop a month to the local farmers market from now on. I'm not convinced that its a money saver, ours are evil prices, but there was one veg stall that was great value.
I might even have a bit of a drive round at weekends and go to some other markets and see whats cooking. ;)

Keep them purses closed and those wallets fastened folks. :p

  • I can't believe another month has flown by. Managed to stay under budget last month. Hope it'll continue this month! Money has gone in pot for savings :D

Going to keep the budget the same at £160 Still haven't got the confidence to reduce it as yet  .

Good luck to everyone for March!

Here we are then, at the start of a new month. Good luck to everybody, let battle against waste and overspending begin.

    MRS MC - I can't remember if I posted Marches budget, but if I didn't it's £230

  • Hello there

Many I join in this month, please. I've been checking in for a while, and I'd really like to join to try and keep a grip on my monthly budget. It seems to be helping a lot of people. Could you put me down for £270 (that covers two adults, three children, and a hamster).
I hope this will help - I'm assuming I include the odd night out in the budget?

Hi there - can you please put me down for £220?
I still have some shopping to get from Feb budget as we have my in-laws coming tomorrow but I still have some left for that. However, we've just about emptied the freezer this month so will need to stock up with meat and home cooking. Have a sack of potatoes though from farmers market so we are going to have those in every shape and formlaughing-smiley-014.gif

No MRSMC I am pleased you have, I couldn't decide on it because I know I must be a little harsher on myself and use the overstocks up but then I am like a child with a comfort blanket and end up being too soft on myself.

Thing is you see we don't need to reduce it unlike many others, I just know I must after spending went way out of control a few years ago, I was spending over £800 a month easily, which is just silly. If I reduce it I can use the savings for a holiday, so I must at some point be more harsh with myself. I have a massive amount in stocks, have done a 2 week meal plan which only needs fruit, veg and milk (delivered) to add to it to make it last, then Woddy and Sonic's live foods, which is kind of bad that I can make 2 weeks of meals without even checking as that is just from memory that I know is in there. I've banned myself from any shop other than the local Coop, pharmacy (great for cleaning stuff cheap) and F&V shop (a little more expensive but saves on petrol) for this week and next. This will help me when it comes to tiem aswell as I have 2 assignments due in over the next 2 weeks and I don't have time for big shopping trips, the little shops are on the way too/from the school.

So keep me at £240 and if I am crying into my empty purse at the end of the month I can blame you :rotfl: just kidding. Oh good point, this month I must put what I have into a purse and not use my flipping cards, if I do to shop online etc I must put it back from my purse. Let that slip last month which I think helped the overspends :o
One day I might be more organised...........

MRSMCAWBER can you please put me down for budget of £230 again this month

Was planning on going down to £225 but as I went a bit over budget (£4.78) in Feb i'll play it safe.

My month runs from 1-31st March and Budget is for food, cleaning products, toiletries plus nappies and wipes for the wee one.

It's do able but it'll be tight , good luck to everyone this month
How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?
  • I'm still fairly new to here and only just really getting into finding my way round the site so...

Can I join for the first time in March? I'm having a guess budget of £250, thats 2 adults, 1 greedy cat, 2 rabbits, 1 snake.. lets see how I do - this is my first month of having a 'baking day' for the freezer so that should help too :D
Muddling through debt but can't see any light at the end of the tunnel??!!
