Thanks Mrs Mc
Good news the T delivery came in a £44.40 much less than the £50-55 I had thought (lots of bogofs!) so I have £70 left will aim for lower.
Sorry you are tight at the mo Cooltrikerchick. OH and shopping can be a mixed bag. Some are good others a nightmare. Hope you get some good bargains today.:j0 -

why did i have visions of scrouge...lol...
the £120 budget was worked out before hubby change his job in work (same place but a diif thing he's doing now ) he is now getting more money, so in reality we could spend a bit more every week, but the nextra money in the wage increase... i am trying to 'forget' about .( need to find money for new windows and to pay off council tax in full to ease cash flow later on during the year)..but if i find it totally unmanageable i will increase by £10 per week, but i dont really want to do that... as a few weeks ago it would have had to be £120. full stop....
i must admit when i got the reality check ( again) a few weeks ago and had a family meeting so to speak, well me talking to hubby and the kids while they are watching tv and pretending to listen... they must have thought...'ok she's off again on one of her mad ideas' but i think it IS hitting home to them after the moans and groans... and that is from hubbyWork to live= not live to work0 -
ooops sorry didnt come quite as intended lol!
OH always switchs off when I talk about money. Kids are a bit young to understand fully and propably bored of Mummy saying we cant afford it. They have been spoiled this week with Walkers crisps (bogof). I have been buying value crisps for the last few months.:j0 -
my challenge this month is simply to see what i spend - I'm horrified! I thought I didn't spend very much and was very thrifty - clearly not as thrifty as I thought. £150 so far in march, for food (human and pet), and domestic stuff like toilet roll. Everything I buy is 'from scratch' type food shopping, from aldi, local butchers and veg shop and an occasional trip to a supermarket for things aldi don't stock. I don't buy brands, readymeals or anything like that. On the plus side, although I'm emptying the freezer as I cook, I'm also refilling it as I try and double up with cooking to produce meals for future weeks - which should help keep the budget down - but i'm going to have to start thinking very hard about this!0

Hi,
Thought I'd post an update. Another batch cooking day for me. 9 large naan bread, 6 loaves of cinnamon sultana bread, HM paneer (for saag paneer) and a 4 portions sage and onion quiche.:j
Still thinking I can manage the challenge, but fresh milk may be my downfall. DH won't drink Long-life milk in tea, so I've been hiding it in quiches, paneer, cheesecake... and using the whey for bread etc... At 2pts a week average, I may still do it.
Hugs to all who need them.
Redsquirrel, my mum has days like that too, she feels that if everything is planned, she wants what isn't planned, if you see what I mean. I just think that's a valid way of being, and you're probably a really lovely spontaneous person as a result. I'm not, I'm uber-planned and rigid!

Some people would say I'm disorganised and a bit fickle, but I like your description better! :rotfl:
Just been having a read of the cheese recipes on that other thread, think I might have a go with the milk I've got left. As I was rambling the other day cheese is one of the things I spend most on and making your own certainly looks cheaper (and healthier) to me.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Weezl - just wanted to say thanks for the link you posted for the paneer recipe....it sound yummy and really simple, I will give it a go next week!
thanks again

MrsM I hope you dont mind me asking this but do you by any chance have the recipe for Stollen Cake (I think thats what it is called). I had a look on the indexed recipes but couldnt see it and thought I would ask you as every recipe you have posted that I have tried has come out perfect (which is a huge surprise for me!).
If you dont have one not to worry, I just thought I would ask.
Many thanks2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.

Just write your target in red and say who it covers. Mrs Mc will then pick it up and add it to the list on page 2 (or 3?) of the thread. There is a new thread for each month, so you may want to wait until your next pay day....Everyone on this thread is lovely. We share recipes, news of deals and lots of encouragement.

Hi everyone, had a great day cooking and baking. Thanx MrsMc for the bagel recipe, made them this morning and they're great, thanx so much. Am so loving all this HM baking, things just taste so much nicer. I also made some chicken (left overs), courgette, mushroom and carrot pasta in a white sauce, and made enough for today and tomorrow, and it's lovely. Hope there is still some left for tomorrow lol, at this rate there won't be lol.
Have a good day everyone,
Cheers
