Well had to go to Lidl today, to buy Dishwasher tablets, so I was £2.99. Will update sig in a mo.
Today when at work, I was talking to one of my collegues, and I was telling her all about my "grocery challenge", and she looked at me like I was daft.
In her household, there is only her, DP and their 2 kids (aged 9 & 4), and she said she spends approx £170 per week on food:eek:   .
She also cooks from scratch, and said I must be using all the rubbish ingredients to make food, and that there was no way her DP would allow her to scrimp and scrape on food!!!!
The nerve of some people, making out im not feeding my family good, I was flamin raging:mad:   .
Well at least I know I am feeding my family good wholesome food, and if she wants to waste money then thats up to her. Has anyone else had any sort of reaction like that?

Hi Jackie - I've never had that sort of reaction but just wanted to give you a bit of encouragement. Don't let her make you feel bad in any way at all!!!
You are not "scrimping" on food at all, you are making good wholesome food for your family taking time to use good quality, carefully sourced ingredients, without any extravagance, without unnecessary (sp?) waste and without any fuss! You go for it girl, and feel proud!!!0 -
Spent another £23.01 yesterday. Didn't expect it to be so high, when I made my list. But hey....
This means, we have £52 left for the rest of the month. Hopefully we will make it within budget.
Oh, went into Mr M today too. Total spent was £4.62. But I had a £5 voucher, so nothing leaving my bank account there.I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -

 She sounds like a total b**ch. I know people like that who think that buying the most expensive items means buying the best - WRONG!!!
Well I thought today was going to be a NSD for me but as my shoulder and neck have been killing me now for 2 days I popped to the doctors who suggested I got some ibuprofen gel and some tablets - came to £5.84, and the gel doesn't work. I don't think the tablets are doing much for the pain either and usually they numb anything. I've got hubby making my dinner now as I've told him I need to rest :rotfl: . The doctor said it's a muscular strain probably caused by sitting at a computer all day  . Me? at a computer? Never!!!

Any sugar should work fine for the shortbread. I would use white sugar if I didnt have soft brown sugar. Not sure about the condensed milk though. (btw it's on offer at tesco 2 for £2.20)

Edit: I've just found this recipe for making condensed milk if you have milk powder. I've never tried it though.:A0 -
Well, I had to pop into Sainsburys  finally as it was the closest to my mum's this morning. But very pleased as only spent £14.57 - in the old days it would have been closer to £50 for a pop in!
Got the condensed milk for the millionaire's shortbread - £1.20!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also picked up ground rice - and there seemed to be a bit of a run on ground rice...:rotfl:is that you guys?!
Jackie, re the rice: I think Delia does a lovely chicken and rice dish she bakes in a lidded casserole. Very meaty and very tasty.
We had the Delia thing with rice and chicken last week, it's got chorizo in as well and is totally delicious!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Do you know what she is a b**ch. This is the same person who critised me when DS was younger because I was feeding him lots of fatty foods, HOWEVER this was on the advice from a dietician & pediatrician. DS was very underweight when he was born, and had problems swallowing until he was 5 and had to undergo quite a few operations, so, when all his operations were finished and he could eat lumpy food, and chew, we had to start feeding him foods that were high in fat so he could try to put on weight, and I had to try to give him AT LEAST 3000 calories a day:eek:   . Easier said than done.
She thought I was kidding about feeding him all that kind of stuff, and said " I must have misheard the professionals as there was no way they would tell me to feed a child all that sort of junk". Aye right hen I wasnt listening when they were telling me about my childs health problems (Glaswegian accent coming out on me now can you tell lol:rotfl: ). Anyway, DS is fine now (is eating me out of house and home, still underweight, but, we think thats just the way he is going to be). really cant be bothered with people like that, infact I actually feel like telling the boss im not coming back because of her snidy comments. Im the one doing him a favour covering for people that are off, cos, I actually work for DH, and my old boss has asked me to work for him on a temporary/part time basis cos hes got quote a few staff off.
By the way, has anyone got any ideas when it comes to salads. I love salads, but, im getting a bit bored. Apart from the usual cheese, chicken, all I ever put in salads is cucumber, tomatoes, onion, peppers and carrots. I hate lettuce, so, dont put that in. Is there anything else I could use? Im afraid ive got very little imagination.

Its ok i didnt see it as you nagging at me. I take it you ahve never smoked
No, I havent. But I bought cigs abroad for my familyeven though I do nag them! To be fair, its just my aunt and cousin. My brother and SIL smoke as well, but my bro smokes roll ups  Mum and I nag him all the time. Funny I guess how some of the family smoke and some dont. But I was thinking more of money saving
