You could just buy the dried mixed fruit instead of currants and mixed peel. That way you won't spend any extra.

    FFM :)

i will buy mixed fruit then :)

  • I made some hot cross buns last week. I looked at several recipes, some said to glaze with egg some with a sugar/water glaze. I opted for the sugar/water as it was going to work out cheaper.

If you are going to glaze with sugar/water don't boil it too much before using - I did and although it looked great, when OH bit into the first one (unwarned) it stuck to his teeth (they are his own teeth not false). I had boiled it very slightly into the toffee stage :rotfl: it was a struggle for him to prize it off of his teeth. Funny for me and the little monkeys to watch though.

Well my experiment with lentil pate was quite succesful - Only had green lentils so it's a yicky muddy green colour, it doesn't look very pretty but it tastes nice! I was planning to follow the recipe on here - http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/Y/yawye/snacks.html - but basically ended up making a lentil and veg curry, had a bit of it as it was for tea and then let the rest cool a bit, stuck it in the blender with a bit of butter and whizzed it up. Got a supply of crackers and oatcakes at work so those topped with the pate will be my snacks for the next few days.

Had a look in the freezer etc to see what I've got to last me for the rest of the week, planning to do a little shop on Saturday so that's just six meals to get together (lunch and tea) - discovered an unexpected portion of mince (!) so I've got one with that, 3 fish fingers for one, and sardines for another, the remaining three will have to be something made from veg, rice and/ or potatoes... maybe veggie chilli & baked potatoes, some sort of veg risotto... yep that should keep me going!

  • Went to Tesco's this morning to get some All Bran and ended up spending £14.60  . The other spends were at least for offers and meat whoopsies. Does anyone else wonder why they can't find whoopsied meat when their freezer is empty, only when it's jam packed :rotfl: ?

Walkers 21 pack crisps and McVitie's Ginger nuts we on bogof if anyones elses OH refuses to compromise ;)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    HI everyone!:hello:
Not been on yet this month:o and I have no idea how much I have spent either but in my defence I have been temping last week and today so somethings (eg housework ;) ) have been ignored as my time has been short. I have done my monthly trips to aldi, lidl and asda so I am sure I've made a huge dent in the budget. I've not bought anything outrageous and the freezer is full so things should be fine.
Now to read back through all the pages to see how everyone is getting on...
