    Hi no pot2pin

In the original recipe there was 1tbs sugar.. but i just used less.. but for sweet ones i would use at the 1tbs -but I think i will try soft dark brown sugar or demerara..for that.. and then when they come out of the oven, brush over with a little bit of honey or golden syrup to glaze and add that bit of extra sweetness...

Hello All, just posting a quick update. We were away for the weekend in the caravan so had a chippy tea whilst we were away (yum, yum - it has become a family tradition now, first night away = chippy tea. YAY :o ) Because I am a GOOD girl, I have counted it in my total spend.
I have just finished sorting out the washing   and found a couple of receipts from the weekend, so I'm off to add it all up and will updtae signature later, but I think I'm doing OK (shhhhhhh, mustn't don't speak too soon though!)

    cheers

    Bobby

I get the local pharmacy to order it in for me, yours might be able to do the same. Jar lasts me quite a while. I think health food type stores might sell it aswell.

    weezl, definately inspiring, well done!

Just done a shopping trip to Lidl, after not spending since Friday morning I think, still not doing bad this month

    Thanks lil-me

Chopped mixed peel is the orange and lemon peel that you can buy in tubs usually near to the glace cherries in the baking section, near to the sultanas, currants etc. If you buy mixed dried fruit it already contains the mixed peel.

    Hi mumzy

Mixed peel will be near the baking/dried fruit.. its just little chunks of candied orange n lemon peel... its in little pots like you get cherries in

Sorry -just crossed posts .... you don't have to add it.. but i think they are nicer with peel in

You could just buy the dried mixed fruit instead of currants and mixed peel. That way you won't spend any extra.
