That sounds a perfect suggestion, and I always have lemon juice. Will try this for tomorrow night and see what the kids think.
Thank you! :T

If you wanted to cook a batch of different meals at once you could make a batch of meatballs, bolognaise & chilli at the same time.
Use a third of the mince to make meatballs (add breadcrumbs soaked in a little milk, some chopped onions and some herbs) Then use the other two thirds to make Bolognaise & Chilli.
Brown the mince adding a couple of grated carrots to bulk it out. You could also add sliced peppers/ mushrooms/any other veg you like. Then add a couple of beef oxo cubes, two or three tins of chopped tomatoes, some tomato puree and herbs (eg oregano/ basil/ Italian seasoning). This would make a pan full of bolognaise, then split this in two pans and in the second pan add a (drained) tin of kidney beans, a tin of baked beans and some chilli powder to make a pan full of chilli. This should probably make enough for two bolognaise meals and two chilli meals (but this depends on your portion sizes & how many youre cooking for). You can then freeze these in family sized portions.

NSD for me today.
Just got to iron my uniform as I start a run of 8 nights tonight  .
I have to get myself all set up and organised ready for it though. DH won't eat the bacon joint now so I don't know what he's going to eat for the next few days while we'll be having that!

 Hope everyone is well this afternoon?
Got my delivery from Mr T a little while ago so well stocked up for the next 2 weeks. Spent £69.03 and 3.76 for the kitties. Also called at f & v shop and spent 5.27. Got loads of carrots to try the carrot and coriander soup I've seen on here. Just need to search for recipe now
Planning on doing some batch cooking this evening to make up the meals I have planned out but can't do everything as no chicken breasts or pastry in delivery. Still can get a lot done and do others when I get to butchers later in the week. Also going to try some of the baked goodies, especially the hob nobs, as they sound yummy  Might even save some for the kids
Right off for :coffee: now and turn on the oven. Catch you later.:xmastree:Merry Christmas0 -
Hi folks.
Did you all get the bad wind Yesterday .
I used to Mike, I used to trump like it was going out of fashion - but not since we've been Old Styling.

Does anyone have a healthy version of mushroom stroganof please?
I made one similar to this one a while back...
I didnt have the different type of mushrooms, so used one kind.
I didnt have dry sherry so used dry wine.
And I didn't have the half fat creme fraiche, so used a supermarket own brand equivalent of philly light... with garlic and herbs.Actually... what I did is nothing like the actual recipe.. but it did give me inspiration
MrsMc :T :T :T
Many thanks for posting the bagel recipe. I made these last night.
Fantastic.
Although, I substitued the poppy seeds, for a seed mixture of pumpkin, sunflower, linseed and seseme seed. And I had dried onions that I used instead of the salad ones you listed. Still very good though.
So much so, I am making more tonight for my parents .. and some collegues at work  :rolleyes:0 -

They are soooo much easier than a recipe I have seen previously in a book :T
I only have 3 left in the freezer  - my parents had 4 yesterday.
I fancy making cinnimon and raison. Do you think you would have to add sugar into these, or would the sweetness of the raisons be enough ??0 -
funkyfunkymonkey wrote: »Hope this is not a 'silly' question - but what is malt extract? Marmite is yeast extract and horlicks is a malt drink - but I can't find anything on supermarket shelves that is 'malt extract' - I would like to try a recipe for malt loaf that is in my breadmaker recipe book.
TIA

I get the local pharmacy to order it in for me, yours might be able to do the same. Jar lasts me quite a while. I think health food type stores might sell it aswell.
weezl, definately inspiring, well done!
Just done a shopping trip to Lidl, after not spending since Friday morning I think, still not doing bad this month :cool:One day I might be more organised...........
