I registered SE last year IA and I just gave the tax credits people a low estimate, I couldn't even give them much of an idea how many hours I worked (but I don't need childcare so not an issue) and the guy was really good about it and just said "give me a number". I decided to give a low number as I would rather they owed me money than the other way round. I found them really helpful (yeah I know I must be the only one in the country)0

I agree but make sure you dont go over 3 months from the time you were 'self employed' or you will be charged
