Sarah please check Tax Credits with the CAB. They will have all the answers for you. I am a bit rusty on this now but I am sure you can delay telling them for a certain period as you are quite correct you don't want them to stop your taxcredits all together. Surely the CAB can advice you if you are going to be one of them now.

They won't be there now til monday... I always thought you had 3 months to tell TC of any changes.. let me go have a look on the CAB website..

I know that I get a bit gloomy & miserable at this time of year - Mum's birthday, Mothers Day, Dad 's anniversary (17 years today), then my & the DS's birthdays, all within 6 weeks

You may commit tax credit fraud if you deliberately give incorrect or misleading information when you apply for tax credits, or fail to report a change of circumstances within one month of the change.

I think I'll call them once I've registered as SE and just tell them that my income for 07-08 won't change... but give an rough estimate for 08-09...

They used to be open til 8pm when I got them.....part-timers :rolleyes:

Since you have no idea of what you're going to earn, you can give them a low estimate. Just make sure that you bring it up to date as soon as you can, so you don't have any arrears.

sounds like a plan to me... I'm not expecting to earn much at all especially in the first year.
