Tell me about it... it's a nightmare.. especially when you live off them week to week..
But it's pretty obvious you aren't sticking around in the system and won't be in 10 years...;)

dare i ask if pub will be cash in hand?

Given that you've already signed up for Ann Summers, i would go with that and Argos and call that 16 hours per week. planning plus one party plus argos will be 16 hours, end of. (sometimes it'll be two parties but will be no planning hours that week, if asked)

No point arsing around with maybes and what if's. Tax credits like straightforward cases and really do not dig deep.

Tell pub guy that you enjoyed it, but you need regular hours so have taken up something else. but that he can try you if he needs someone at short notice for cash in hand...

i know it's not honest, but if it's only now and then?

Is there anyone on the tax credits board with experience - this must be fairly common. It's frustrating how p1ss poor this system is if anyone actually tries to work or aspires to work their way up...

But that's the intention. When people vote according to social class - it's best they never escape it...

Not necessarily............ being self employed for your Ann Summers, the pub could happily pay you cash in hand if it's very limited hours from my understanding as you would sort out your own tax etc. Same as mystery shop companies do.

Sorry IA! didn't meant to suggest for a minute that you would somehow be dodging your responsibilities as a member of society!

Remember too that you have a personal allowance, I think its about £4500 that you're allowed to earn before having to pay tax. I work 16 hours a week and don't pay tax at all. Also your tax credit awards notice will tell you on the front how much your earnings need to rise by before you have to inform them.
