Hello...........i just got in from work and i made the call.
They have offered me a reduction on the Talk 24 plan to £10.50 inc call baring facility and the broadband £9.99 = £20.49 per month.

    What do you think???

    Hi,

What did you say to them to reduce your bills?

I have the 1mb broadband and pay £17.99 a month for it and want it reduced to £9.99. I have already reduced my line rental to the £10.50 3-2-1 standard tariff and signed up to 1899.

I am really impressed with OP.... WAY TO GO

I know how hard it is to make that call, I have been plucking up courage to phone O2 and try and get my contract package cost down. You have give me the boost I needed to give it a go. Thanks!

Also, I have e-mailed a friend who is strugling to pay the same NTL tariffs that OP was on (BB + Talk 24). Hopefully she will get a reduction too.

    Brilliant! Well done!!! :T

    Hello,

Phoned NTL again. They said they couldnt give me a better discount then they had already. They have offered me 2 discounts. I am getting my local and national calls free between 6pm-8am with call barring facility (usually £1.75) for free. Plus, the internet is £9.99 and is 1mb with the 3GB gap.
    Total was £20.49 per month.

I think it is ok........so i say yes to it. I tried to squeeze some....talked about some of the problems i have had...but, he said he couldnt go any lower :rotfl:. Imagine, my confidence has grown....i have arrived as a true money saver!!!! ;)

Fingers crossed its all ok in a month!

.... and I'm going to do the same. Made the first step and just changed (this afternoon) to .1889 after reading what other MSE's are doing.

Only thing I tried to ring an 08456 000 .... number and it kept saying 'put the country code in'. Does it not recognise these nos? I emailed .1889 and asked what the problem was. Now waiting for a reply.

What can I ask NTL for? We have the 321 package and dial up internet with a second phone line. So pay £7.50 for the phone rental 2nd line for computer.

( We got the 2nd line as don't have broadband as this old windows 95 pc can't take it.) (I'm looking for a new pc too!!)

Monthly rental for other line says'( TV & Telephone package) = £14

    So paying out monthly £14 + £7.50 + £10 for entertainment services(family pack)
    + calls.

Someone on another thread said NTL are giving Free sky sports for a year. My OH would love that..would never be away from the tv! So dare I ask for that too?

Oh something else I read was to mention 'freeview'. How do I bring that in to the conversation with NTL?

Last question what is call barring? We are registered with TPS as get a lot of cold callers mainly these 'you've won a cruise people with American accents'
    Is that the same?

I'm thinking of all you wonderful people holding my hand when I make this call to NTL but be glad if you would point me in the right direction as what to ask for.

    Thanks again... Maisie

.... forgot to say in the above. we haven't got digital either. Can I throw that in to the call to NTL. I think that's about £50/£60 to get that installed.
  • Hello, sorry for the delay in replying!

Not sure about the deal that you currntly have. I have read that soem people have got the 321-basic tv, broadband and phone (free to ntl phonelines in evening and weekends) for the price of £30. They dont have to pay line rental because you are entitled to this if you have the 3 services.

The call barring is a facility usually costing £1.75. It enables you to lock your phone preventing people from using it to make mobile calls. You can use different codes to stop people in your home from using premium lines etc etc.

It is a useful facilty...in a house of teenages who love using the land line phone to phone mobiles....for hours!!!!

Hope this of some help! :-)
