why when people don't get there own way they start moaning, is it any wonder why they stop accepting coupons for items people have not bought when alot of people are becoming very greedy. so im sorry alot of people who use an excessive amount of coupons for items not bought have ruined it for everyone else.
for example, the other week with the free mini eggs from woolworths, the 2 woolworths near me did not have any left due to people using multiple vouchers. so well done tesco for stamping out these selfish !!!!s!!!0 -
I've stopped doing my main online shop at Tesco and moved to Ocado - I still use the Tesco Express near work for the odd snack or lunch item, but that's it.
I'd been wavering about moving for some time because of their poor service, low quality food, idiotic substitutions and late deliveries. I hung in there because I'd occasionally get a few extra Clubcard points or a voucher to offset the delivery charges. I'd also convinced myself they were cheaper.
My last delivery was at the end of December for 10am-12. At 12.30 I phoned Tesco to ask where it was and was told that they were 'running late' and it wouldn't be delivered until at least 2pm. (They claimed that it was 'traffic' but this was between Christmas and New Year when inner London is deathly quiet and I'd just heard the traffic report on the radio claim the roads were 'like a ghost town' ). No phone call to warn me, no apologies, like it or lump it attitude. Unfortunately I had to go out, so I told them to cancel it, at least thinking that it might teach them a lesson.
I now shop at Ocado which is blissful in comparison. It can be a bit dearer (although my last order was much cheaper than Tescos due to special offers), but it's so much better that it's worth it. Delivery costs are lower (sometimes free), there's a one hour delivery slot, (mine usually arrives at the beginning of the hour) and I always get exactly what I ordered. Drivers are smiley and insist on taking it up to my top floor flat; Tesco have never offered to do this, no matter what they claim on their website, and if I've asked for help I've been met with a scowl.
Weirdly though, I am actually saving a bit of money with Ocado. Tesco products have gone downhill, particularly the fruit and veg, and I would often have to throw away stuff which had gone off before I'd had chance to eat it. I've never chucked away any Ocado food and because it's fresher and better quality I feel more inspired to cook from scratch. Ocado also have tailored discounts - I've just been sent some codes for discount on products I've bought before. Tesco send me codes which don't work, even on the day I receive them!
I've been ordering online from Tesco for about 7 years now. All the reasons above make it no longer worthwhile it if I'm not getting any extra points.
Bye bye Tesco. :wave:0 -
I used to work for Tesco, kinda feel like I have a loyalty to them because of that. But after having my baby 6 months ago, I have become something of a scrooge, every penny really does count.
So, I have made a decision today, largely based on what I buy in tesco.
1) I will continue to do my weekly shop at Tesco. I will always go in store to do my shopping unless I have an extra points code for .com
2) I will not buy any toiletries from Tesco unless they are on a really really special offer. I will now go to Boots and get 4 points for my precious pound.
3) Baby essentials again, unless they are on really really special offer I will shop around. Now the baby is on follow on milk i have noticed sometimes Boots and other stores have them on special offers.
I am quite lucky as I have a Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Lidl and Morrisons all within 3 miles and i drive. So I am now going to be ruthless. I will be making my shiopping list as usual, but then i'll spend an hour going round to see where it is cheapest and get it from there. It means going to a few stores for a few bits but I am quite rigid with my lists and don't buy anything tempting when I shop nowadays.0 -
Kirstle99, boots would be generally very expensive compared to tesco/asda - you'd be better checking boots for offers then buying in tesco or asda. Again, I'm by no means a green, but in both environmental & sterling costs, saving 10p on 5 items isn't worth driving a mile to a different supermarket. You really need to factor in the petrol/car wear/accident risk/polution/time/stress - I'd say a 3 mile drive needs to equate to saving £5 to be worth considering.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0

Tesco seem to be targeting codes now to indaviduals accounts,or making them 1 use only,so not alot of hope for extra points in future, also tescos petrol prices always seem higher than sainsburys asda etc by 2-3p a litre, yet tesco brag low price always, mrt is definately getting greedy:mad:0

I AM a green and I agree
That said, i cycle to my tesco 4 times a week. That way i can use the same coupon 4 times in a week, I spend nowt on petrol, keep myself slim and add no pollution to the air!

check out the toiletries bogoffs, and the toiletry coupons on this thread, as he above poster sauid, tesco is miles cheaper, some great bogofs can be had, their own range is cheap and effective, you get 1 point per pound but you CAN convert to deals, and there are lots of extra pointers to be got!I can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0 -
what you spend instore isnt all tesco profit!!
they put a markup on things , same as any other retailer, promotions tend to move from retailer to retailer, one 4 week cycle sainsbury has an item reduced ,then its at tesco, and so on.I worked for them for 16 years and i too have a certain loyalty to them i spose.
i did the home shopping deliveries and certain people did exploit it, it was always the same people complaining that this and that were damaged or missing, yet other people never had an issue.we did random checks on shopping just to ensure that everything was there , and was all good, this also coverd aspects such as collusion ( as the system is open to abuse from many angles)
Tesco are light years ahead of the competion when it comes to business sense, and the few people that do go elsewhere will only be the people that they can afford ( or want )to lose. They will have done their homework , thats why all the codes are drying up.
i do nearly everything through tesco one way or another, as long as its the best deal, i may not do car insurance 1 year, but i will pay via tesco credit card.
as for ringing them over 85p...the call will cost all of that!!, use a bit of savy.0 -
Yes thats exactly what i mean, if theres no offers in Tesco ill be off to boots or somewhere that has got offers. Its not like i'm making special trips for special offers, I do shopping for a few elderly neighbours / family every single week in different shops (and they pay me for the petrol) so i'm not losing out there, i'm actually going anyway.
I will check out the toiletries offers and stuff, ty for the tip0 -
I think that's a bit much really. it's sort of insinuating everyone is lying. I have bought food from tesco ie, a bag of satsumas, anmd the next day they've gone off. I've also inadvertently bought products that are OUT OF DATE!!! They are breaking the law doing this!!
I haven't complained because I don't want to draw attention and if I am getting a lot of shopping for free by using coupons it all balances out, I have to just put it down to experience, but it does happen.
There was also a lad once, when I'd just handed coupons over said, as I was going "She's a pain in the !!!! her"
Now sorry, but you just cannot say thngs like that about customers. When they've gone maybe, but not so they can hear!! he's lucky i just brushed it off and put it down to jealousy.
I've also had other staff members at various tescos be very rude to me because I am giving coupons in, which is tesco policy!!!!!!!
As for insurance, tesco car insurance is very expensive, and I dont know if its changed but you used to have to ring a non freefone nmber which has you on the line ages, so you're paying them even if you DONT get a policy!!
I shop there because I save a lot with coupons and I use deals. if there was no coupon acceptance and no deals, I would shop elsewhere. I always scoffed at aldi and still would prefer to buy branded goods, rather thanaldis own, but their fresh fruit and veg is apparently second to none and extremely cheap, so i'd likely by fresh food there and other stuff at asda/iceland.I can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0 -
