Im on seroxat which is one of the antids in the press but im also on zispin which helps with my sleeping. All antidepressants are different for each person, some work on some ppl and some dont. Your gp will know what is best for you and what kind of treatment you will need.Councelling depends on the area I suppose and the waiting list, ive waited a while now, just over a month where as before i had to wait over year(shocking). The only way to get through depression is by accepting your depression and telling your gp.Dont feel bade, guilty or ashamed and dont bottle it up as thats what makes depression worse. Listen to music, watch a funny dvd when your other half is out. I dont go anywhere nor see anyone just the mums up the school and none of them really talk to me,im in my own little world with my son. Our life isnt great, it needs improving a lot and i need to get well but Im proud of my son and thats down to me. same with you hun, u look after your kids, its the hardest job anyone can do, being stuck indoors is not easy.xx
it makes me wonder how many of us mums are in the same boat. i find it difficult to make friends at the best of times (self esteem problems too- what a joy!) and feel that I cant approach other mums and start a conversation especially when there is a group of people together. My biggest worry is that my depression will have an effect on my children. Hugs xxtrying to live in the moment but chained to the past and scared of the future!0 -

Goodmorning earth and everyone else.
How are you feeling this morning?I hope a little better. You would be suprised as there are a lot of mums and dads that are in the same boat as us. To look at us you probaly wouldnt think we suffer with depression as we dont have time to show it which is down to parenting. I use to befriend all the mums where I use to live before and they knew of my depression which some took advantage of with me being so soft. I would always babysit their kids and they just used me.In the end I distanced myself and they turned nasty on me. Now im very cautious and I only speak to one nan who takes her granchild to my sons new school. The rest of the parents are one big group and very unwelcoming. I have smiled, been friendly but they are very stuck up. Im a very friendly person still but I dont like ppl who think they are better than the rest when we are all human, regardless of colour, race, religon and size.I dont judge ppl but these parenst at my sons school are all working parents and not one single parent apart from me.Im the only one on benefits so I feel Im an outsider but atleast I know its not me and Ive tried. Im not that bothered anymore but like you I find it very difficult to make friends now as my depression has got worse. You can only try so much.
You will make friends as time goes by, you will get to know who is nice and who isnt. Its hard as it is especially if your self confidence has gone which is what mine is like. As your kids gets a little older and they start making more friends at school you will make friends with the mums and dads at school.
Hope your feeling a little better, sending you hugs.xx0 -
