I wanna be mortgage free!

It can often take that calculation to see what "only" £100 per month can do and great news that your OH is now onboard with the process, that should really help you to save massively. Well done.0 -
Extra update
Showed OH the spreadsheet for OPing and he got excited about it too. :j So he's agreed that once the credit card is paid off he will continue to pay off £200 per month on the mortgage as though we are still paying off the credit card. OOOOOhhhhh soooooo exciting. I'm feeling like I have a right to post here again!
Going to make first OP on Thursday when we go to town for our opticians appointments.
Those spreadsheets are quite enthralling - great when you get the additional buy in !RosieTiger - Highest £242,000 Feb 2004

I too am debt free except a mortgage and a small student loan. I could pay both off, but chose to dollar cost average the money into my brokerage and retirement accounts. It will be nice, however, when they are paid off too.I was shocked how much I was able to save just by living below my means.0

Hi twinkle, good luck on getting the list doneCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

OMG....still no phone. Apparently according to the online tracking DHL can't find me. No one answers the phone though so I'll have to try again tomorrow. If I still can't get them to answer, providing OH leaves car when he goes to work tomorrow I will drive up to the depot and see if I get a response that way.
I got a bit carried away and spent FAR to much money today. Over £100 on 2 pairs of shoes for school. 2 very comfortable NICE pairs from Clarks. I figured pay a bit more and they should last longer in theory!!
Also bought 3 skirts for school (it's like a tropical jungle) to keep me cool over summer. Soooo I'm all set I think. Think I need to thin out some of my draws though, I've a feeling I've got a fair old amount of stuff that I don't wear or is just too small.
OH paid £219 for a pair of glasses too. His first ever pair...he's a bit upset about it. Ha ha. I opted to just pay the eye test fee and keep my old ones. I only use em for reading so seems little point in getting new ones given my perscription hasn't really changed.
Didn't OP mortgage as there was a massive line of people. But intend to go up early on Saturday and do it instead. Parents are going into bank tomorrow as well so should be able to call the solicitors with their solicitors details then.
Despite the fact I've done nothing this holiday I somehow seem to have got a fair old amount done. Now if only I had another week of lazing about!! Ha haReduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

OMG...I can't even tell you how stressed out I am.
My parents have just been round. The bank won't let them transfer the mortgage to our house (even though our house is worth more), or let them turn it into an unsecured loan because their credit rating is shocking.
This means that we can't get the house. We have 2 options add £15K to our mortgage to pay off theirs and get them to pay the additional 15K. Given the money problems my parents have (and that they have stolen money from me in the past) I DO NOT want to do this. Or we live in the house and do everything until they pay off the mortgage. Again, not an option I like.
I honestly don't know what to say or do. My OH is going to go NUTS when I tell him...also, would the building society give us the extra on our mortgage knowing we were going to spend it on another house??
I really want to cry right now. I just can't cope with this. The history of problems caused by my parents is ridiculous...I know this isn't directly their fault. However, I'm still really annoyed with them...they should have checked this out sooner!
Any advice would be more than welcome. We are going to speak to the solicitors I think ASAP.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Poor twinkle ((hugs))
Try and relax as much as possible and have a chat with your OH. I would suggest having a chat with a financial advisor and your solicitors.
