Ha ha ha evab, that made me laugh out loud. Unfortunately OH is at work while I'm sat typing this. Just as well really cos I feel really unwell. Been feeling sick for the last 2 days.

We haven't decided to start trying as such, just come to the decision we defo want to start trying at some point. It's stupid stuff like the house move, his job etc that's stopping us. And money but your never gonna be ready if your waiting for money.

I'd never bother with the whole looking into it thing....temperatures and testing for peak fertility times. Well, not unless it was taking a while to happen anyway, but then like you say I'd be more likely to go to the GP.

I guess I don't feel as pressured as the OH (he's 11 years older) time wise. But I'd like to get cracking before I started feeling that pressure if it makes sense. I just don't want to be like my parents I guess. Constantly arguing over money and stressed. I also don't want any child of mine growing up in the environment I did (steptoes yard), which judging my the state of play with this house lark at the minute.....they might!

Ooooooh.....I'm not a thinker. I'd rather things just happen. And on that note....I'm off to go vomit.

I hope your health improves soon...

    A couple of points to recommend regarding starting a family;
    1) Do please get a rubella check before trying. Despite all girls being immunised at school it doesn't always induce immunity. My OH checked before we started to try for a child and as she wasn't immune had a booster then checked subsequently.

    2) Do ensure you are taking folic acid once you decide to try, don't wait until you are pregnant as that'll be missing a time when it could have benefited the child

Timing is tricky in terms of career etc, we simply overpaid to mortgage initially but within three years OH was on maternity then part-time since. This did help and I would recommend it as a "short term" target/reason to max the OP if you can.

We made the decision to try just as we both turned 32 as we didn't want to wait longer in terms of OH and first child; of course chaps can father into their seventies but recent evidence indicates ideally they should do so younger...

In our case, I had been away on a 2wk business trip - OH was pregnant 10 days after my return; so much for "it could take a while, but you'll at least get used to the idea"! That was the lucky part, dd born two months premature via emergency cesarean and recommendation not to have second was not so good. Fortuitously dd was 4lb and able to breathe as she was too impatient to wait for steroids to work on her lungs. Initial issues quickly resolved and she has been a healthy girl since - and remains eager to get on to do things just as she started out!

Whatever your decision once you decide to not "stop" having a child, just relax and see what happens rather than "try". Enjoy ;)

Cheers for that. Yeah I'm aware how quick these things can happen and thats what I'm working on. Making sure everythings in place so that it would be ok if it did happen quick. I realise it takes a while as a rule but knowing how fertile my family are, I need to be careful with these things. Ha ha

Awww glad your OH and dd are going well now, despite the rather dramatic entrance. Cheers for the tips as well. I've been reading up a little bit just in case...so it we do decide to stop trying not to conceive then I should be reassured a little.

However, working in a school thats a 40 minute drive from home (all being well) does concern me slightly. Never mind, it'll all come out in the wash. The rubella check is very worthwhile thinking about because I guess I'm at an increased risk due to working in a school.

    OOOOOh decisions decisions.

Twinklie - I remember that it felt momentous to me to even be discussing having a child. I think until that moment it's something in the future but suddenly it becomes very real...scary and exciting all at once:D:cool:....

don't joke about twins......my 3rd and final child turned out at the 13wk scan to be twins!!!!!!! If i wasn't lying down on the bed already i would have fallen off in shock!

ps-it wasnt very mse either-had everything from the previous 2, but then had to get 1 extra cot,m.basket, new (double) buggy, buy a new-to-us (mpv-as now 6 of us) car.......! Used 2nd hand sites of course, but still, double everything and giving up work to look after them....not v.mse!!

    pps-thoroughly enjoyable though!

Well don't be expecting any good news for a fair old while. I'm still getting my head round it. Think I'm breaking myself in gently! Ha ha.

Anyway I've had another lazy day and am starting to feel better. Even managed to mark some coursework so I better update my list.:T

Forgot to say we had a letter from the solicitors saying if we didn't contact them ASAP they were taking us off their books. And when we called them they said they would contact us in 2 weeks if they hadn't heard anything else. I know they want it to move forward (so do we) but hassling us doesn't make it happen any faster....

Also the building society said that the valuer has said they should have a 5K retention. And that we have to submit a report and estimates for cavity wall ties, and damp. Its well annoying because we told them when we went for the mortgage interview that this would be the case and was what we were gonna use some of the mortgage money for.

However, they say it needs sorting before they'll give us the money!!!

Anyway we rang BOB the builder (who my mates recommended) and he's gonna try and find someone for us. Fingers crossed then. Once we have those estimates we'll have to go back to the building society and see what we can sort out. They won't say anymore till we have the estimates. Very annoying.

I'm well over this moving house business now. :rotfl:

Having a good day today. Finished marking all the coursework!! Woop woop. Hubby is on with dissertation...woop woop.

And we are breaking our NSD by buying fish and chips from the chippy. Although I have somehow managed to put on 4 lb in 3 days so probably shouldn't!!!

I'm only a little un though so I can take it! Ha ha. And due to the Easter hols the solicitors aren't harrassing us! YEY!
