I wanna be mortgage free!

I can empathise with the difficulty in not making extra overpayments, other than the ones you planned to make - I over pay (into my offset savings) by nearly £1,500 each month, going without loads of luxuries but still having a nice life. But that's now 'normal' overpayments in my head, and I don't get the buzz out of making them. My spreadsheet expects them, the chart shows the overall mortgage dropping, and there's no 'extra'.

I try and remind myself how far I've come, to be able to live in my 'forever' house with a huge new mortgage, and have so much time taken up with DIY and discovering how to keep the fantastic garden - stop, look around, and smiles about what you have, and how much earlier you'll be mortgage-free (or able to move to something more expensive) compared to if you weren't so organised with your finances!

This is true...but we've been living in a building site since 2006 and it's driving me nuts. It's time we need as much as money. I think it's start of holiday blues...I'm usually that busy that I don't have time to think...now I do but can't do anything about it. :rotfl: Will I ever be satisfied?? Erm...probably not! :D

Right today I intend to organise which class we are going to send Belle to for training (but I'll need DH to agree). We then need to tidy the house and organise the washing. Thats my main job...I'll like to get some work work done as well - probably uni work rather than school work though. Exciting times.

Right developed a comprehensive list of what our options are for Belles training classes and for boarding her at christmas. I feel very guilty about this and would never have booked the holiday had I known we'd have the little one. However, it's done now...fingers crossed she won't hold a grudge for long.

Now if only DH would get up so I could stop working on my dissertation proposal and get on with jobs that need doing.

Feeling a bit out of the MFW loop at the minute. I'm just not doing anything extra to save/make money. In fact, since the dog has arrived all MS's have ceased as well. I need motivation and some ideas of what to do...but I've so much school work and uni work to do that I don't really know what I could be bothered to do. Hmmmm.

But all of the work and uni stuff is building your career for the future, when you will be able to op more....

Sure i'm going to be the same when my little one arrives!!

My proposal for my dis needs to be 4500 - 5000 words long. Now then...I've managed to so a bit already....just wondering how to tackle it. Should I just dedicate this week to it and get it done....or should I set myself a minimum word limit to try and reach each day?

I work ok either way...but I won't get much done tomorrow or over the weekend. I don't know which way to go with it. I'm just impressed that I've managed to get started to be honest....thats the hardest bit in my opinion.

earthgirl I know it's all about the future...but I've been saying that so long now that it's starting to annoy me. I just don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. There again I've only got one year left to do on my MA, I'm only going into my 3rd year of teaching and I've just got a promotion to assistant curriculum leader (although it's only for a year). I shouldn't complain really should I. I just feel like I'm not doing enough and I don't know why.

I know the feeling of never being satisfied...!! I wonder if that is partly why Im drawn to this...I can be quite a perfectionist!!
sounds like you are doing really well though, and well done on the teaching post for only 3 years.

Belle looks so cute , sounds like she will make this MFW journey all the more exciting and fun! (or if your having a bad day cheer you up!)

are you and hubby planning on buying a house together after this then? or is that the one you have now? ..getting confused!

anyway dont forget how well youve done and good luck on the uni work! and hope you get a few days/weeks to actually relax- most of my friends in teaching are totally frazzled by now!

The house I live in is his house...he rents in Wales. He's doing a PhD down there so when thats finished he'll either move back here or we'll sell up and move elsewhere. It is a tad confusing but I can't cope with a "normal" life. I must need drama. :rotfl:

Seconded here - it's a long haul remember and the fact that you still post here shows your commitment to the cause! I'm sure if you cast your mind back over the few years we've all been here we can all think of mega-motivated people who've dropped by the wayside after a few months.

Regarding the dissertation, I got so fed up of mine that I set myself a target of 500 words per day. This felt totally managable but not so much I'd give in and not bother before I even started. Some days you'll find you do loads more than that too.

Just a thought though, might you be a bit more efficient if you have a week off to unwind? I know I get really slow at marking at the end of term cos my brain's just fried

I know what your saying about having time off but I'm bored already. I'm having regular puppy play breaks and lots of naps (anyone would think it was me having/just had a baby). I don't really do relaxing - I get bored watching tv and I can't settle to read for more than a day at a time.

DH and all my friends and family are still at work so I don't really have much to keep me occupied. So I just figured I'd get my dissertation proposal done so that I can at least tick that biggy off my list. Ideally I'd like it done by the end of the week. Then I might have a bit of time off before starting the mountain of school work.

I have the day off tomorrow anyway. Dentist in the morning, then we are on the move again between houses. And in the evening is Belles first puppy class! :D I can't wait. I'm hoping she'll make friends with some other pups there and have a bit of a play - if that's allowed. I've never actually been to a puppy training class before so I'm not sure what to expect if I'm honest. I'm excited though. :D
