Yeah Stuart it was a dealer arranged "deal". We needed the car and FAST so were stuck at the time. I guess we should look round for a cheap loan to get it paid off but it's all in DH's name and he's rubbish at being bothered to sort out such things.

I'll look for a cheap loan I guess and see if I can convince him to go for it. We shall see....

    1. [STRIKE]Write year 11 reports.
    2. [/STRIKE]Plan Psychology lessons. Tomorrows is done but would like to get next weeks done and under my belt as well.
    3. Research cheap loans/credit cards as per Martins suggestions. Going to assess this in summer according to DH.
    4. Re-jig lessons for tomorrow as necessary!
    5. Sort photocopying for next week to put in ASAP!
Think thats enought really given I have to get DH up shortly so we can watch the final Dr Who! It's very exciting.

I figure if I do all the research and present him with it (after going through the paperwork for penalties on early payments) I can suggest a way forward. The stubbling block will be the GAP insurance we took out. It means that if the car is written off and we still owe money for it they pay off the loan. However, if we shift the debt then it's void and we'd still be liable for the paying of the reminder of the balance of the debt! I'm not sure he'll be very happy to shift the debt because of this.

EDIT: Productivity levels dropped when I got the message to say school is closed tomorrow as well! GET IN!

twinklie - my hubby was offered the gap insurance when we bought his car but we refused it on the basis that if the car was written off the insurance company would pay out for a similar model like for like thus it being the same value as his current car so i couldn't understand why the gap insurance would pay out unless we decided not to have a replacement car (which we wouldn't due to work locations).
i don't think the salesman was best pleased as i guess he got a lot of commission for selling these policies and our apr was 3.9% so he probably didn't get a lot of commission from that either.

I'm dreading this heating bill. Heating is on full wack, I have hat and gloves on, a massive thick winter (long) cardigan, thick pants and 3 pairs of socks....I'm still cold! I can't cope.

There is meant to be a HEAVY snow shower where my school is overnight so I'm not sure if we'll be in tomorrow. I don't fancy that journey if the weather is any worse though. Plus I need to put petrol in....hmmm...

Bit upset about the babysitting thing as well. Don't mind if I can work but just making time killing stuff up irritates me. Grrr...

Was going to do more batched cooking tonight but I'm out of room in the freezer...lol.

Finances are looking tight because DH hasn't been paid. I tell you, his finance dept need shooting. His pay is 7 days late now!

School was open and it was a glorified babysitting day again. Fortunately I had KS4 most of the day whom have exams soon....soooo we got some work done. So yesterday didn't feel like such a wasted day.

I've heard it's meant to get bad again around Monday though so I'm not 100% that we'll be in. I'm thinking it might be just as well not planning anything or writing in my planner because it'll only get mucked up again. I've got lessons that I planned from last week that I still need to do anyhoo...so we shall see.

I've so much to do but absolutely no desire to do any of it. I feel exhaused...must be the weather. Still, DH is back which is nice.

I need to sort him out some travel insurance though and pay the car tax this weekend. Him not having been paid yet is not making it easier. Apparently he'll get paid on Weds now. I'm also having to release a MS because it's down in Wales for tomorrow and....well, I'm not.

That is not good news regarding late payment of salary to DH; is it poor operation or is it a sign of financial issues? Hope you get momentum on all the items you've listed.

Regarding weather, it seems this may be set for two more weeks; so heating costs for everyone will be high no doubt. I think we all need to hope for an early and excessively hot Spring so we can turn off the heating early this year!

The late payment to DH is to do with the uni finance department cocking up again. All the people that have been there since the start of last year have been paid, all the Sept - Nov starters haven't. They have been assured that it will be done Wednesday! He's never been paid on time yet!

Right, I'm going to write up what it says on the hire-purchase agreement about the interest to see if I'm understanding it correctly. It says:

Interest rates are calculated using the effective rate of interest. Interest charges are calculated at the outset of this agreement, initially on the amount of credit (the balance of which is assumed to reduce each month). The total interest charged forms part of the total charge for credit, which is added to the amount of credit and the resulting sum is paid by way of the monthly repayments.

Now does that mean that if we O/P the interest we will be paying will be reduced like it does on the mortgage. I don't know if it's because I'm feeling fuzzy headed today or what, but I'm not 100%.

I want to look at snowballing our debts and getting things paid off ASAP! Although obviously we have little to play with in regard to extra money we can put at OP's at the moment. An insurance policy runs out next month so that's an extra £56 per month. We'll get a refund of OP'd council tax soon and my payments will go down. So we should have close to an extra £100 per month to throw at things.

    We shall see.
