Right, still no idea what is wrong with the car. However, because we only bought it (from the dealer) in Feb it's covered by the 12 mths warranty. We also get 12 mths free recovery and roadside assistance (we only discovered this last night though :D).

So we've called them and someone is coming out to try and fix it by the roadside between now and 5pm. If they can't they'll organise getting it to the dealership to get the mechanics to fix it. If it's what we think that has gone...then we should get it all done for free fingers crossed. :)

I'm also thinking of applying to do some exam marking for summer. I feel the need for extra money - and with DH not here during evenings I figure I could crack on with it and take down any surplus over the weekend. We'll see. Just not sure whether to apply for just one exam board or two - although obviously I'd only actually work for one.

DH is going on holiday in a couple of weeks with his uncle, whom said he'd organise a cheap deal for them. Well, this cheap deal has turned into the most EXPENSIVE European snow holiday I've ever heard of!! I'm mortified. I'm really quite annoyed they didn't ring and double check to be honest before they booked it - given they knew it was going to be so much more expensive than they had first suggested!!!

So he's going away and I can neither afford to and nor do I have anyone to go away with. Still, I'll be fine and should be thankful I've got a job to tie me down I suppose in the current climate. I'm such a spoilt brat at times...but I can't help feeling sad I'm not going anywhere. :(

Roadside assistance has just been and apparently it is the battery. So DH has taken the car for a drive to get it charged up enough that it will start tomorrow. Sooooo we'll have to go and buy one tomorrow....boo!!

On the plus side, I've done my application forms for Exam marking - but I dare not send them off until I've asked Head and HOD for their support on the matter. Or they won't release me for the standardisation meetings if I get on it. I'm only applying for OCR though - I mark for those. Thought about applying for A level as well but thought I should just start out with GCSE and see how I go.

Hopefully they checked the alternator output when advising it was the battery? Do remember that it takes many miles to recharge the capacity drained from starting a car; fingers crossed this will be cured with a £45 battery or so - DO REMEMBER to have your radio code to hand to reprogram it once new battery is fitted.

Good plan Stuart...good plan. Last time we were blocked out of the radio and ended up buying a new one!! Nobody could get it to work. It was well old though and it gave us an excuse to upgrade from tapes to CD's...lol.

I have no idea what they did though because DH sorted it all...I'll just trust his judgement.

I've hit the ground with school work now....boo.

Don't do what I did and carry the new battery home but not properly upright and spill sulphuric acid over your lovely new, expensive coat and jeans and through to leg skin :eek: I'm okay but seriously cannot believe what an idiot I am sometimes :rotfl:Just when I think there's no further I can sink, I find a way :o

Ok, so wages are in :D but my DD's for bills come out shortly so I'll be about £300 in the red! It's just due to an unforseen expense thats put me in the red. My money is earning more in the ISA than I'm being charged interest for being in my overdraft though so I don't want to move it and lose my allowance. And if I'm a good girl this month I should be just about broken even by Feb in my current account.

I've applied for some examining work now, for GCSE Science and A-Level Psychology. I figure they can only turn me down and I've not lost anything. The money would come in rather handy though! Hmmmm....

Right time to crack on with the school work I think...before my washing finishes and I need to go and hang it out.

£72 for a new battery. Still, it could be worse. At least all these probs won't stop me OP the mortgage....I'm so excited to do my next update...only a couple of days to wait. It's the same old same old but I enjoy watching the figures going down.

I'm feeling happier about my list now too. :D
