Thats a sad storey with a happy ending. it sounds like Endsleigh have improved in the last 10 years which is a good thing!0

1. If you are a mature student some insurance companies will view you more favourably.
Am slightly older than the normal student population but not old enough to be a mature student as am a postgraduate!
I went for E and L after an online search and will cancel at the end of this month, they haven't sent me the policy in over 2 weeks, surely that is illegal??? They told me I have been covered since I took out the policy online and taken my money but I have not signed or seen anything about my cover!!
Will look at HSBC and try out their insurance, I bank with them, maybe that will help....or not.0 -
I went with Saxon, £28 covering quite a lot of stuff, including my desktop computer and including accidental damage cover too. I think Which? magazine recommended them, at least that's what the person who told me about them said, so worth a punt I think0

I was with Saxon for a few years, but then switched to Endsleigh when the premiums at Saxon went up quite a bit. However, the customer service at Endsleigh is terrible so I think I'll switch back to Endsleigh or give Campus a try.Midas.0

Yes sorry. I meant switch back to Saxon!
I've had a look at Campus insurance who seem to offer a good level of cover, but they do seem quite expensive - certainly no cheaper than Endsleigh I'd say.Midas.0 -
While there may be some limitations on Saxon Insurance, they still will do you basic room cover for £28, if you have a basic PC, and will increase this to around £53 if you have a laptop. Some people have commented on the limits of some of the cover, but in these days of MP3's, I'd rather fork out the £28 now and have some sound, basic cover in place NOW, than spend weeks wondering if £132 from Endsleigh might be better.......... and end up not doing anything, and getting robbed.
P.S. Top (and most depressing) Tip. If you are robbed of something of real value - i.e. high end laptop - think carefully before you replace it, what you are going to replace it with, and your level of room security. It is a most favourite trick of the odious slimeballs that nicked your original, to wait around a couple of months while you replace it and try the exact same trick again.0 -
I can strongly recomend http://www.compucover.co.uk/index.asp
When I had to make a claim it was all done in less than a week, with minimal fuss, and prices were very reasonable.
Also, my university negotiated a special deal on insurance and all students were covered through the university. (The premium was included in the hall fees).0 -

There's just got to be a more appropriate word here for "thrive"....... any fans of Stargate Atlantis and the Wraith will probably be able to suggest one..... just for starters, I'd suggest "harvest".0 -
I am looking at CompuCover but it appears they only insure equipment less than 3 months old. Do they not cover anything older than 3 months?
