Base colours i.e black, dark blue, dark green, dark brown. You shouldn't wear a navy shirt with black trousers etc... (but it's OK to wear a blue shirt with black trousers...)

I used to share a house with 6 girls, and they attempted to girlify me (and succeeded!) and taught me all these useful (useless???) things! 10 years ago I hated pink and all things frilly/lacey/girly, and now I even read the fashion pages in magazines

I'm far from Trinny & Suzanna though, and have no intention of going round groping peoples boobs (or moobs) to check they're wearing the correct bra...

I just assumed from your name, that you were female. I hope it's not to be taken literally, as I can't think of any circumstances where pink shoes are an acceptable form of attire for a red-blooded male. :p

I see, yes - so the dark brown trousers I was wearing yesterday probably didn't go with the dark green hoodie. Hmm, this is quite complicated - I suppose this is what girlfriends are for.

Oh go on, you could make some money doing that on t'interweb.:o
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

I'm lucky(?) enough to see nearly all the nationals on a daily basis and have been for the past 25 years.
ALL newspapers are guilty of fact distortion, mis-reporting, etc.
but the mail stands head and shoulders above all for misleading hack journalism.
it has its own perculiar prejudices. foreign nationals, trades unions, labour party, civil service, social services regularly take a beating from it.
back in the 20's it villified austro-hungarian immigrants.
in the 30's it warmly applauded the rise of hitler.
under the present lord rothermere it takes pleasure in scaremongering.
    immigration/house prices/health.
    take your pick.
it's certainly fleet st.'s (as was) worst example of 'comment over content',
which is why I disregard any article re housing market.

btw, I don't go in for n/paper snobbery. I just like to get to the facts.

One of the things that amazes me about the Daily Mail is their attempt to split all foodstuffs into one of 2 groups, those that cause or cure cancer.

It is true what you say. What I like about The Economist is that they are very open about their biases - free trade, free markets, free people.

Indeed i am female... I did spot a guy in town wearing a pair of pink crocs (those plasticy things with holes in) once, and indeed they did look most peculiar, although going by the rest of his attire, he may not be of the red blooded male variety

Gulp! depends how dark the shades were... but generally very dark browns and very dark greens shouldn't be mixed... After several years I have slowly got rid of all of my OHs "undesirable" items of clothing... (first I hide them to see if he notices, THEN they go to charity... )

One of my old male housemates let me apply make-up and nail varnish, but possibly something to do with the vast quantities of alcohol he had consumed earlier that day. He was less amused when we wouldn't lend him the nailpolish remover when he sobered up...!

Ohh, what a good method of making some extra money!! I shall consider it :D

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Yeah they were quite dark - even I noticed it didn't look quite right. But I had man flu & had been traveling for 26 hours - I didn't really care.

Err, possibly not the place to mention it, but I used to do that too. I quite liked having eyeliner on. You had to really trust the person putting it on - I mean a spikey pencil that close to your eyes... but then it made you look slightly odd, there was something about you that people couldn't work out what was wrong. Course that was in my drunken student days, you wouldn't catch me doing that now in my sensible, grown-up life.;)

Man flu is a perfectly acceptable excuse for a range of things, including lousy fashion sense on a particular day... I am very tolerant of man flu, given that many of my collegues seem to suffer from it every now and then. I am so pleased I'm female and can't catch man flu!

pmsl. that made me giggle out loud, and I just got a very odd look from my boss. he wasn't aware that using stress analysis software could be comical...

actually, i think eyeliner suits some men! are you're sure you're not tempted to put some on every now and then?!?! I'm trying to build up a mental image of you now...

Can anyone actually explain the 'average house price' meaning? It seems it currently varies from about £175K to ober £200K according to the different views!!!! It is a huge difference we are talking about....

Oooh you're a geeky chick :happyhear

Yeah these days I'm fairly normal looking, gone are the days of long hair & tie-dye t-shirts; of being pseudo-goth (the eyeliner & nail varnish); of my new-romantic phase (ok, that one lasted a day or so). These days I have very short hair (what's left of it) & I buy my designer clothes in TKMax. Though for the last month I've had a goatee, it's just got to the length that makes me look like I'm probably some sort of pervert, you know, just a little bit longer than is normal. That's coming off this week - either it goes or Girlie goes & there's only one winner there.

Everybody knows that demand far exceeds supply and prices can only go up.

There are no empty spaces where I live and there is currently a long waiting list for the people who want to move in.

I agree with you. Prison overcrowding is a serious problem at the moment.
