I've tried fresh yeast both ways - staring it off and just throwing it in the pan on a basic white setting. I have to say I've had much better results with dried yeast so, think I will stick with this for the sake of the few extra pence it adds to a loaf.
Am I missing something from my new SD-255 I've been through the recipe book and can't find any mention of a help line. Please can someone post the telephone number?
Ooh, I did find that 2tbspns of olive oil are equivalent to 25g butter. I'm using Napolina Light and Mild and can't taste any difference to using Lurpak...it must be healthier though! Says she who is eating almost a loaf a day !!Preemie hats 9 :j0 -
Hi Guys,
I am going to make my first French stick in my Panny today.
Now the manual gives instructions on ingredients, etc, but not how long and which temp to cook it at!
I have both a Gas and an Electric Fan oven so please could someone advise me?
Many thanks.
CF xx
PS Also think it says 200g or 250g flour - does this make a short stick?Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

Page 22 of the manual. Bake in a preheated oven at 220C/425F Gas mark 7 10-15 mins or until golden brown.

I have asked this before but have not had many replies. When my sd254 is kneading there is a loud squeaking noise, this is my second panny, I took the first one back for exchange due to it doing the same thing. Is this normal or have I got 2 faulty units?
Thanks

Mine does make a noise but don't think it is a squeak!
