This happens to me, and I never use the rapid bake. Might it be to do with steam escaping from the bread during cooling and thus reducing moisture - like my wrinkly face looks worse if I don't drink enough water!!? Just my own theory of course
ha ha. I did a white on rapid yesterday and after 5 minutes it looked like an old man's head :rotfl:
yes it must be something to do with rapid bake as my lop-sided bread and wrinkly head bread has appeared on the rapid bakes.0 -
I've noticed that the crust softens considerably when the loaf is in the wooden bread box I got from Wilkos the other day. Strangely tho, it will crisp up again if left out for half hour
What's all that about:rolleyes:

I tried more water in my bread last night but it still came out lop sided, it tastes good so don't really mind about the shape0

Has anyone got any tips on how to clean inside..................I dont really do it but there's some definite charcoal-like pieces in there now. I did try to turn it upside down to shake it, and i gave it a quick wipe inside but wouldnt mind some better ideas0 -
tried a Tesco own brand white bread mix for the first time last night, came out lovely, set it as XLarge, dark crust on rapid bake - nice crust and fluffy inside, yummy sarnies for work lunchbox, and the pack was only 55p, might try the wholemeal one next0

I use a piece of kitchen towel to brush off any crumbs on the element then use the thin nozzle attachment on the hoover and suck out the bits around the element.0 -

the Tesco wholemeal mix is good :T however I always find that with my panny, I have to use 20ml less water on all recipies but saying that I tried making a granary loaf using Hovis granary flour, 20ml less water and it still sank, then made a 50/50 wholemeal and it was fine - how bizarre is that0 -
Just wanted to know that it wasnt just me and my machine
Most of the time I great wholemeal loves, even on rapid bake, however when I try something like a fruit loaf or granary, it doesn't workI always use 20ml less water and for the granary loaf I used Hovis granary flour and it sank
However I did look at the loaf as it was rising and it was fine but during baking it took a turn for the worse :rotfl:
All said and done, i love the machine but wanted to know if you guys still got duffers out of yours even when you followed the instructions to the book?0 -
Had one duff loaf, but that was cos it didn't seem to mix properly, so think I just hadn't shoved the paddle thing down hard enough onto the spindle. It was all sunken and there was lots of unmixed flour - nasty. My fruit breads and other stuff have all come out ok though. My only suggestion is to check the paddle, make sure nobody else is having a sneaky peak and if that doesn't work give panasonic a call.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

Funny you should mentioned it, but at the weekend I made a batch of dough for bread rolls, they rose lovely for the first hour then sunk, they were full of air holes. I also made a white sandwich loaf but that didn't rise much either, I think I have a bad batch of flour as it was a new packet. So not really the fault of the Panny - I hope ...0
