Boxer needs a docked tail!!!

Get real!?
You want to take an animal and chop off part of its anatomy because YOU dont like the way it looks and you tell us to get real?0 -
I also wanted a boxer, for years i tried to persuade my OH, it was only when docking became illegal that i changed my mind.
I suppose it is only a matter of time until we all get used to seeing undocked tails, but in my opinion boxers do look fab with docked tails.
We now have a beautiful black lab puppy with a tail that can wag forever (he never stops)0 -
The OP has to be a troll. Honour killings, circumcision male & female, rape, murder etc have all been round for years, does that make them right?? PATHETIC response. I suggest you go chop a finger off with no anaesthetic & then say it's fine & we don't even NEED a finger, most manage with the rest fine. Dogs need their tails! People like you make me sick & you're not worthy of owning a brain let alone a dog.0

So it's ok for a labrador to be able to wag his tail when he's happy ,but not a boxer?
I give up trying to understand some people's way of thinking!!0 -

You posted before I could!
So a cute little boxer puppy wagging it's cute little tail to show how happy he is just wouldn't be cute enough?

Surely looks should be the very last thing to bother about after health, temperament, right breed for the home situation etc. I could never whinge about a pets looks unless it was mutilated as in tail docking. Mind you, people who dock tails are probably the ******* on Animal 24:7 & similar programmes who mistreat & abuse them their whole lives. Don't change how the dog is, change your attitude, a dog is a gift & should never be made to suffer0

Dogs evolved with tails for a reason - it obviously gave them some sort of significant survival advantage, perhaps linked to communication or balance.
Whatever, the tail was/is was obviously significant and important to the wellbeing and survival of the species, otherwise nature would have done away with dogs tails long ago... so, if we accept that it is important, why on earth would you want to remove it because you prefer the looks of a dog without one?
PS you say that a "boxer needs a docked tail" - I would suggest that this debate is all about your own aesthetic preference, and nothing at all to do with what the dog needs.0 -
Since it is not allowed anymore what does it matter? If you want a Boxer you have one with a tail. BUT I am in the USA right now and a friend has recently bought a Doberman that had the tail docked and at 10 weeks (two weeks after my friend picked him up) the ears were "done" so that they are erect. The dog is still wearing a collar so that he cannot mess them up. I doubt if it is cruel if the vet did it but necessary? No way, still plenty of humans have cosmetic surgery so it is hardly something to get worked up over.0

Thanks for all your kind replies. looks like I will have to get one with a tail then, my husband is sharpenning the meat cleaver as I type!! Get real, dogs have been docked for hundreds of years.
Sick. People have been chopping other peoples heads off for hundreds of years, does that make it right? Absolutely vile.Gone ... or have I?0
