I think I'm gonna set another target as well as the 15/31 AFJ;
Maximum of 75 Units for the month (as opposed to about 300 this month:o)

Welcome aboard everyone- it could be a bumpy ride but we can do this, honestly we can...I was given 3 months to live on 14th Dec 2007 because of my drinking, and I haven;t drunk since and god I can't tell you all how not drinking has changed my life, and my childrens life, and how my family and freinds have all drifted back as they see me make an effort rather than just accept that I'm a sad alcoholic and leave me alone to drink myself to a lonely death. No one has to be like this, for some its going to be more difficult but we can do this....I just hope that one day the first thing that I think about isn't drink, its been a year and I still crave the stuff, but I know theres no going back now..I nearly lost everything, its going to take me years to get those things back, but I'm determined now to make amends slowly through sobriety...and you know what? I'm just a better person full stop now, I've lost the alcohol but I've gained some integrity and respect again and its a slow process but I'm gonna do it for my kids, sisters, my dad and everyone that didn't give up on me- I owe them, and this time I'm not going to let them down.
That brought tears to my eyes. Well done you - keep up the good work.

I'm going to join in now for January-although I havent drank since May due to my pregnancy my baby is due in January by planned c section as he/she is breech so I am then 'free' to drink. I know I need to watch carefully my consumption as I felt it was getting too high before I got pregnant and I can visualise myself drinking a bottle of wine again. I think I will be too poorly to drink after the c section and then too flipping knackered but I want to be vigilant to make sure that bad habits don't creep up on me again. Also I will have about 28lbs to lose so keeping off the sauce will be a big factor. Good luck everyone-you are so inspirational and I love lurking on this board.HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18

Beck, good luck for the birth!! If my last 2 pregnancies are anything to go from, I drank the first day out of hospital and I've also had an emergency c-section, felt I needed summat to take the pain away
I hope it all goes well, make sure you update us on baby's arrival

Quick one to say "Happy New Year" to everyone trying to give up something, cut down something, begin something new, sort something out, mend fences, build bridges, improve their lives, the lives of their loved ones, increase their happiness, be healthier, wealthier....or anything else ending in "-thier"
Today is 16th day of my own alcohol freedom thing and the biggest test of my willpower (Christmas was a big test, but not as big as New Years Eve).
I'm getting a taste for Lime and Soda though. I don't think it's going to be that hard...

Hi all
Just wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everybody.
I doubt I will get on here much over the holiday but I am also planning on having very little wine as well, who knows might even manage 1 or 2 AFD's.
Am thinking about doing the AFJ as well, so will let you know as soon as I have decided.
Have a good one everyone and once again, thank you to all of you.

Hello, have been lurking for quite a while wondering whether/when to join in. Am up for AFJ apart from a wedding and a big round numbered birthday which are both in the same week somewhere in the middle. So I'm going to try for four weeks (28/31). Am really rather a bad drinker, tho' as some as my friends are much worse and I'm v. good at hiding hangovers I kid myself that I'm fine really. Count me in, and good luck to you (us) all. Wish I could say am posting this sober, but...

Hi all- OK, we're nearly down to the wire now, wagon has now become a wagon train- EVERYONE have a brilliant new year, not just tonight but for the weeks ahead too. Got my fingers crossed, but I've got a feeling we're going to be OK.
Checked out the Paul Weller pictures- blimey, what a state, his kids must be cringing with embarrassment. Make sure noone here strikes the same pose later on..................its not a good look, honestly.0
