Suzie, hugs to you hunny
You really have been through it. I think Merlot's advice is very good, go chat to your GP if you are worried that you may have an addiction. In the meantime, pick a day and stick to it, post on here if you need some support
Well I shall be out for my girly night tonight, then that's it 30 days of sobriety for me:undecided

 Hello lovelies,
I'm not about much at the moment, but I just wanted to send you all an encouraging hug and ask if I can join your [strike]merry [/strike]happy band.
I find the gradual cutting back approach (like in the Grocery challenge) works best for me so I'll do it that way.
"Force of habit" is my worst um habitI'm a great one for saying yes to a drink without thinking, and I've lost count of the number of times I've come in through the door and opened a bottle of wine on automatic pilot and I'm half way down the first glass before I think why did I do that???!
Plus I have a reputation for "liking a drink"so if I seem to be nursing one for a long time, or if I ever say no to a drink, there's always a big inquisition about it, which doesn't really help.
I've got two funerals to get through this week though, so I'll jump on the wagon after they're over.
This is really good idea for a thread. :T

Hiya Jacks, welcome on board and good luck for this week, sounds like you've got a few horrible days to come so my thoughts are with you.
Well I'm nursing a pretty bad hangover this morning (or should I say afternoon :undecided). I only sat there chatting with my mate in the pub, we even went for an indian before hand to line our stomachs but I still feel very very rough. My body needs to abstain from alcohol today, it needs a rest, so here's to day number 1  .......ooops, I mean :coffee: :rolleyes:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
MOrning pepys. How did people do with sat night? I had wine but made a concious decision to drink slowly & enjoy it, which I did. A few no drinking days for me now and will see how I feel. Hope all ok and if you didnt manage not to drink that you did it in a controlled, measured way. Hugs all!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Good thread this. Couldn't go the whole hog to be honest & give up totally but have cut down dramatically(apart from a session around my Uncle's house with a few mates last week as his GF had gone on a hen weekend). Mind you it was a cheap day as my brother & I went halves on a £12.99 24 pack of Carling! Had a great day but felt like s*** the next day! Used to get slaughtered week in week out but now only drink 2 or 3 cans a night & don't drink at all 2 or 3 nights a week. Good luck all & i think ISOM is right in saying that there is a link between alcohol & debt, there definately was for me as when i used to run out of money i would withdraw on CC just to go & get p*****! I wish alcohol was as easy (for me) to give up as the fags. Can do without for 6 months or binge for 6 months, no in between or "social drinking".
I'm off the demon drink at the moment, got half an opened bottle of wine in the kitchen which I refuse to finish as it will "set me off" again.
Good Luck to all those trying to leave it alone.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
