Had a close call this evening, but danger was averted by me buying a choc Frijj milkshake in Tesco and downing it in the car park, took the beer taste away
Day 3 almost under my belt
How's everyone else?DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hi Jo
Chocy in a drink - best of both worlds :rotfl:
Glad it did the trick. Keep up the good work.
I had accupuncture earlier - supposed to take away the craving and relax me so I sleep better. Lets hope I get some sleep tonight. My sleep has not been very good lately. The accupuncture was just 5 needles in each ear. It did smart a bit for the first couple of seconds but then didn't hurt so wasn't too bad. Quite relaxing really.

Hi BHB,
Did the acupuncture take the craving away?DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
What craving ? :rotfl: :rotfl:
So far so good - feel the most relaxed I felt for a long while actually.

You said it took the cravings away, wondered if it works
Sounds good to be relaxed though!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
They also said that low blood sugar levels gave the same symptoms as the cravings. And when you have alcohol it rushes all its sugar into the blood. You get the same effect if you have normal sugar so you don't really know if it was alcohol or blood sugar you are craving.
When I got home I thought I was craving alcohol but had dinner and a non alcoholic drink and the craving went straight away!
So I have probably been having a drink when I really felt like a mars bar and a pint of water!

You know what, part of this is probably true for me....after I drank that frijj milkshake my taste for a beer had definately reduced. I think I need to keep a sugary drink in the car for when I drive home from work in the evenings, my most dangerous time!
Day 4 for me today
Still feeling really rough, the kids gave me slapped cheek virus (or B19 paraovirus or summat), the kids have been running around for 2 weeks with a bright red rash all over their faces, legs and arms and that's it. I get it, I get no rash but all my joints are swollen and so painful and I can bearly move. Although this is probably doing me a favour in a round about way as I don't feel well my thoughts of drinking are less
Hope we're all well today?DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Morning all - I said a chocholate drink was doubly good didn't I Jo? haha,
Sorry to hear you are still in pain and swollen up! Hope it wears off soon.
Now up to (well will be at midday) - 7 days completed !!!! 168 hours and counting. Feel much better for it too and the accupuncture certainly helped.
I had a great nights sleep apart from our goose making an awful noise in the middle of the night. (He just lost his mate to a fox a couple of weeks ago and he's not been the same since).
Hope everyone else is doing great too, though everyone seems to have gone a bit quiet.

Well I failed on Sunday night after work:eek:
Finished at 9pm and bought 3 bottles of pinot on offer for £9.95. My BF and I sat and drank all but a glassful and I didn't go to bed 'til 2ish! Not a good idea when you have to be in work for 7am!
Needless to say I felt like I'd been ran over by an artic lorry and probably looked that way too!;)
It has really scared me, as if I'm ill the next day, I usually recover by noon. But, I was still feeling sick tuesday.
Thats it.....I cant keep doing this to myself:mad:
I'm off today and my BF and I usually go for lunch in a pub, which includes a glass of wine. Then, that turns into a bottle on my return as I always drive and can only have the one in the pub. I'm determined not to have that 'one'
glass as it tends to give me the taste for it!:o
I think that if I give it up...can't just have a little....I may be a possitive influence on my BF, and God knows his liver can't take much more:o
Will let you now later how I get on. In the meantime. Keep up the good work, especially with the encouragement you all give on here.:TLiving a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T
