Hi, I hope noone minds if I join this thread. I've recently felt that I've been drinking far too much and that I need to address it. On Easter Saturday my DH mentioned to me that I drank far more than any of the other women we know-I went to deny it and then realised it was true...We then went on holiday for a week where I drank a bottle of wine a night and more-e.g like an extra beer at 5.30 and we came back and I suddenly thought that this is enough and I really want to cut down. I was starting to crave the feeling of that first glass so have decided to only have a drink on Friday and Saturdays. I always drink my first glass really quickly to get the 'buzz' from itl Haven't drank any wine since Sunday night now and feel like taking control again. I went out for a meal with friends last night and three of them shared a bottle of wine but I had sparkling water and had a brilliant night. Here's to another day without wine.HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18
My Overdraft-£1500

Hello. Can I join in too please? I didn't think I drank overmuch really, just perhaps a glass of wine when I get in after work, and perhaps a couple more at weekends...then realised that I also have a whisky first before dinner most evenings...and when \i'm at home I join DH in a beer before lunch. Starting to add up, maybe. Still, that's fine.....but actually I can't face coming home and not having a drink. To me that's a real wake-up call. So, starting today I am going to have either the whisky or the wine, not both. Should I try to cut out more? Not sure if I can to be honest. Trouble is I'm always going on at DH as he usualy has 2 for every 1 of mine, which is why I thought I wasn't drinking much... Anyway, if you'll have me I'm hopping on board here for a while.Resolution:

Day 6 for me .... 145 hours and counting. Seems to get easier as you go. Watched some people drinking on the TV last night and it didn't even occur to me that I wanted one. Still have some cravings when I start to think about it though.
Having you lot do the same is an immense help - thanks everyone.
We will all get there.
If in doubt have some chocolate! Easter bunny anyone?:EasterBun
What are you all aiming for - cutting out or cutting down.
I have decided after numerous attempts cutting down doesn't work for me - so have decided to cut it out completely.
Since Last Thursday I have not spent £15 on beer
Since Sunday DW has not spent £9 on wine.
Now I wonder why we are in debt - scary huh? especially as I only earn £10K a year.
Best Wishes
