Thanks for all the support and I wish all of you success in whatever goal you've set for yourself. I'm going to hit the drink on the head, give it a week and if the pains and congelled blood (which I think is coming from my teeth) doesn't stop I'm off to the Docs. I'm not a day drinker, so all I'm aiming for is to get by one night at a time, without a drink.

    thanks once again!

Well done pretani. A lot of us are evening drinkers, it's a fallacy that you only have a problem if you need a drink at the beginning of the day........

    Best of luck.

it's a problem if it's having a negative effect on your life and your loved ones. that can be at any time of the day.

I want to join this thread and hopefully if I can air my feelings it might help me stop the boose. I've been drinking large amounts of lager regulary since the last 5 years and with the continued rise in pub prices and my ever growing addiction, I'm finding myself drinking more alchohol with more frquency than ever before (every other night). 2 years ago I gave up the cigs because I was getting pains in my lungs at night. I used the high strength gum and surprised myself that I actually managed to get of them. Around that same time I started to get sharp pains under my ribs on the right side. I had an idea that it was my liver, but after a month the pain went away. Last year I started getting horrid heart burn, indigestion and acid reflux after a nights drinking and I've been pumping myself full of Rennies to eleviate the problem. After a month or so, it would get better. However, I'm starting to get recourance of the pain under the ribs along with congelled blood in my mouth the next morning and my teeth are starting to bleed a lot when brushing. In the back of my mind I know if I continue much longer or with this regularity, I'm running the risk of some serious form of liver disease. I'm 34 and I sit awake at night thinking about how I viewed alchohol and alcholics when younger. I never thought I would ever become emotionally dependant on it or that it could rott my insides the way it's doing.

please see your GP - any unexplained bleeding is bad news...how you viewed alcohol and alcohols is irrelevant at the moment....focus on now and getting your elf better....people die in their thirties and sometimes they intended to stop and sort themselves out but didn't quite round to it.

Good luck Pretani, post on here if you're finding it difficult :)

Ali, where are you going on holiday (sorry if you've said!), have a great time and good luck with not drinking :)

We wanted to go away for a few nights this week, still looking for a cheap enough last minute deal.

  • he came up and offered to make me a cup of tea and a sarnie this morning but I refused, I have a vague recollection of him saying something about me being a drunk but I am not sure, I am not speaking to him, childish I know but I just can't bring myself to:o
